Read moreThe Malampuzha Dam has a ropeway that takes you across the garden and offers quite a panoramic view. The ropeway station is just a two-minute drive from the dam and garden entrance. Ample parking space is available there. We had paid the charges for parking near the garden. The same parking ticket was valid for the ropeway parking station too. We had gone there at around 1 pm and were told that there was a lunch break and the ropeway to start only after 2 pm. There are 64 chairs on the ropeway. One chair comes to the entry point almost every 20 seconds so one does not have to stand too long in the queue. The capacity of each chair is two persons. Two kids are also permitted along with their parents. If one wants a ride alone, a VIP ticket can be taken. The VIP ticket has a different priority queue. The distance covered is around 1.25 km. It takes about 20 minutes to do one round. The ticket cost is Rs 71 per person. The ride takes you across the Malampuzha dam gardens. One can clearly see the spillway of the dam. The spillways were shut during our ride. The famous Kanayi Kunjiraman sculpture, the âMalampuzha Yakshiâ can also be seen during the ride. The canopy of the chair is made out of clear acrylic. Many of them are scratched so photography through them may not come out well. If you are travelling during midday, it would be better to wear a cap or hat. We suffered since we were not carrying any with us. The ride goes at a good height. So anyone who suffers from the fear of heights are advised to avoid this ride. Altogether I feel that this is a worthwhile ride that tourists to the dam...
Read moreThe Malampuzha Ropeway is a must-try experience for anyone visiting the area. The ride offers stunning aerial views of the Malampuzha Dam, its shutters, and the beautifully landscaped garden below. Itâs an exciting and unique way to enjoy the scenery. However, timing your visit is crucial for the best experience. I highly recommend starting your ride around 5 PM. The golden hour lighting adds a magical touch to the views, making it worth every penny.
On my recent visit, I arrived around 6:00 PM due to long queues and ended up riding at 7:30 PM. Unfortunately, at night, the views are not as impressive, and it felt like a waste of money. There are two ticket options: normal and VIP. The VIP ticket costs more but allows you to skip the regular queue, which can save a lot of time during busy hours.
One suggestion for improvement would be better clarity on the closing time. Although the stated time is 6 PM, visitors are still allowed in afterward. This creates unrealistic expectations for those hoping to enjoy the scenery in daylight. Also, be cautious while on the rideâif you drop anything, retrieving it is impossible. Overall, the ropeway is a great experience, but plan wisely for...
