Muthalapozhi–Perumathura is a calm and scenic coastal escape, far less crowded than Thiruvananthapuram’s busier beaches. It’s where the Vamanapuram River meets the Arabian Sea, creating a mesmerizing view of the estuary, bridge, and twin groynes stretching into the water. The place feels rooted in authentic coastal life—fishing boats, sea breeze, and local villagers going about their day in peace.Afternoons here are magical; around 4:30 to 5:00 PM the golden sunset reflects beautifully off the water while waves crash against the rocks. The stone bridge and sea walkway are great for photos or a quiet stroll, though dredging work and occasional noise can break the serenity. Facilities are limited, so it’s best to pack your own refreshments—but for those seeking raw natural beauty rather than luxury, it’s a perfect...

There used to be a passage all the way from the bridge onto the mouth of the lake where it joins the sea. Now some kind of construction is happening and the trail is now broken. The beach is also now almost non existent. Having said that, the other side of the estuary is intact and you can enjoy a quite evening there. Sea is kind of violent now, typical to monsoon i was told, so don't venture into the waters. So why should someone visit the place? To watch the sea in its full glory, without much crowd ofcourse. So if you are around this area, then this can be a place you can opt to spend a quite evening.
