Pampanal Waterfalls, nestled in the serene village of Manathoor within Kadanadu Panchayath, Kottayam district, is a hidden gem that offers a tranquil escape into nature's embrace. Located approximately 42 km from Kottayam town and 15 km from Thodupuzha, this picturesque waterfall is easily accessible via the Pala-Thodupuzha road, with a short detour through the Manathoor-Karimkunnam route .

The journey to Pampanal is as enchanting as the destination itself. A drive through lush rubber and pineapple plantations leads to a narrow off-road path, culminating in the breathtaking sight of cascading waters amidst verdant greenery . The waterfall descends in multiple tiers, creating natural pools that invite visitors for a refreshing dip. The surrounding rocks provide perfect spots to sit, relax, and soak in the serene ambiance .

For adventure enthusiasts, the area offers trekking opportunities through dense forests and spice gardens, unveiling the rich biodiversity of the region . Photography aficionados will find ample inspiration in the interplay of light and shadow, especially during the early morning or late afternoon hours.

The best time to visit Pampanal Waterfalls is during the monsoon and post-monsoon seasons, from June to November, when the waterfall is in its full glory . However, caution is advised during heavy rains due to slippery rocks and strong currents.

In summary, Pampanal Waterfalls is a must-visit destination for those seeking a blend of adventure and tranquility. Its pristine beauty and serene environment make it an ideal spot for nature lovers and photographers alike.

Note the point: there is no direct road to the waterfall. No parking area, and no infrastructure. Just enjoy the nature...

Adventure tourism is one among the top leisure trips which allure the youth. Among these, waterfalls are one of the most favourite spots, no matter how dangerous or challenging they are. Pampanal waterfall is one among these challenging, adventurous spot which is a magnet for tourists in the rainy season when the rainwater feeds to form a huge, roaring falls.

At the falls in Manathoor-Karimkunnam shortcut road, Manathoor near Thodupuzha, the water falls down with all its power through the rock, creating a series of falls, big and small. Some of these falls also create plunge pools which are the most preferred spots of the day-trippers as the pure water creates a clean natural swimming pool. Taking a shower under the fall is also common here as some of these falls touch the ground with much lesser power creating a shower effect.

According to the people there, the name 'Pampanal' came from the shape of the biggest among the rocks which create falls which is in the shape of a snake's hood. This rock is not clearly visible now because of the increased water level due to the continuous rain and some of those places near the fall are now agricultural land. The name still carries with it the majestic legacy of a gigantic waterfall through the biggest and most famous of all the falls...

Three Waterfalls are there in Pampanal. Trekking from Waterfalls in Top to one in Bottom is a major attraction. The falls comes from Mattathipara hills. The Falls is situated in Manathoor - Karimkunnam Shortcut Road, a diversion of Pala - Thodupuzha road from Manathoor. One have to travel 2 km through Manathoor-Karimkunnam Shoortcut road (Opposite of St. Joseph's High School. Manathoor at Pala - Thodupuzha Road). From Manathoor-Karimkunnam Shortcut Road a deviation has to be taken for 500 metres to reach the falls. During the monsoon season, it gives an amazing view. May - December is the good time to watch this nature's beauty.

A hidden gem in a calm village area! Pampanal Waterfall is a beautiful spot surrounded by greenery and peaceful nature. * There’s a small walk down to reach the waterfall, but it’s not too hard. The place is not crowded, so it's perfect for a quiet, relaxing time. You can take good photos or just sit and enjoy the view. No shops or facilities nearby, so carry your water or snacks if needed. Tips: Best time to visit: Monsoon or post-monsoon No entry fee No parking area or safety railings – so be careful if you go close to the water Please keep the place clean and natural

Map is not showing the right way, so please ask someone there the way to waterfalls. First of all this is not a very big waterfalls or a big tourist destination. And also it is a bit isolated place. But a very beautiful waterfall consits of more than 2 falls at different levels. Calm quite and beautiful place. Not crowded. Vehicles will not reach there. Two wheeler can go a little further and then walk (around 5 minutes) down to the point.
