It's an ideal spot for photographers and romantics alike, offering a canvas of natural beauty that changes with the shifting hues of the day.

Eagle Rock is not just a feast for the eyes but also a haven for birdwatchers. The name is apt, as the site attracts a variety of majestic birds soaring through the skies. The experience of witnessing these avian residents in their natural habitat adds an extra layer of enchantment to the overall visit.

In conclusion, Eagle Rock stands as a testament to the majesty of the great outdoors. Title: A Mixed Bag - Parunthumpara Idukki Tourist Attraction Review 🏞️

Rating: 3/5 stars ⭐️

I recently visited Parunthumpara, a popular tourist attraction in Idukki, Kerala. While it had its moments, the overall experience was just average 😐. Here's a detailed review of my visit:

Location and Accessibility: 4/5 ⭐️

Parunthumpara is located in the Idukki district of Kerala, about 32 km from Thekkady. The attraction is easily accessible by car or bus, with ample parking space available 🚗.

Scenic Beauty: 4/5 ⭐️

Parunthumpara is known for its stunning natural beauty, with rolling hills, verdant forests, and picturesque valleys 🏞️. The view from the top of the hill is breathtaking, with the surrounding landscape stretching as far as the eye can see 🌆.

Attractions and Activities: 3/5 ⭐️

While Parunthumpara offers some attractions and activities, they are limited and not particularly impressive 🤔. The main attractions include:

A small waterfall 🌊 A few viewpoints 🏞️ A short trekking trail 🏃‍♀️

Food and Beverages: 2/5 ⭐️

The food and beverage options at Parunthumpara are limited and not particularly impressive 🍴. There are a few small stalls selling snacks and drinks, but the options are limited and the quality is average 😐.

Safety and Security: 4/5 ⭐️

Parunthumpara is generally a safe and secure destination, with minimal risks or hazards 🛡️. However, as with any tourist destination, it's always a good idea to take necessary precautions and be mindful of your surroundings 📍.

Value for Money: 3/5 ⭐️

While Parunthumpara is not an expensive destination, the value for money is just average 💸. The attractions and activities are limited, and the food and beverage options are not particularly impressive 🍴.

Highlights:

Stunning natural beauty 🏞️ Breathtaking views from the top of the hill 🌆 Limited attractions and activities 🤔 Average food and beverage options 🍴 Safe and secure destination 🛡️

Rating: 3/5 stars ⭐️

Will I return? Maybe, but only for the scenic beauty and views 🏞️.

Tips:

Visit early in the morning or late in the evening to avoid crowds and heat 🕰️ Bring your own food and beverages, as the options are limited 🍔 Wear comfortable shoes and clothing, as you'll be doing some walking and trekking 🏃‍♀️ Don't miss the stunning views from the top of the hill 🌆

This rock is one of the main attractions of Parunthumpara as it is how this place got it's name. There are different sayings regarding how this place got the name Parunthumpara meaning 'Eagle Rock'. The most popular saying is that rock has a shape of an eagle when seen from above from a specific angle (which is somewhat true). Also there is another saying that we can get a panoramic bird's eye view of the surrounding hills, valley and lush green forest just like an eagle while on top of the rock.

Trekking to the edge of the rock is not for the faint hearted. So most people who visit Parunthumpara only come till the edge of the mountain and walk through the paved walkway where it is fenced and it is pretty safe to view the surrounding beautiful valley. But those who are ready for a bit of an adventure will definitely take the risk and go all the way to the rock (especially youths). We can't see the rock from the road. To reach on the rock, we need to walk down around 500 metres from the paved walkway. It is a steep descent to the rock and you need to be careful and walk only looking down. It is not advised to bring kids to the rock. It is okay to bring them some distance down the paved walkway to get a closer view of the rock but don't bring them through the scary narrow and steep descent and ascent to the rock as you are risking their Iives and yours as well. Even adults should only go to the rock if they are feeling confident to make it. There is two paths that one can choose to get to the narrow strip connecting the hill and rock. One is through a very steep rock and other is through a less steeper but more slippery gravel. Either way you reach the same narrow flat strip which is just about 1 or 2 feet wide. Most people walk through the more dangerous close to edge gravel path as it is really difficult to maintain composure and balance while going down the steep rock and landing on a 2 foot wide flat surface .

My heartbeat was rapid and my legs were trembling even after reaching the rock as I was really scared while coming down the narrow passage. You get a different experience looking from here to the valley than from the top. I feel like the view from the top where most people visit is still more magnificent but the experience of trekking to the rock is thrilling and memorable.

Before going all the way down to the rock, remember that it is harder to come all the way back up than going down. You need to have good stamina.

It is also not at all recommended for anyone to trek to the rock when it is slippery or when the climate is...
