Peringottu Kavu Bhagavathy Temple is located near Kizhakkumuri in the peaceful, agricultural village of Elavenchery, between Nemmara and Kollengode in Palakkad district. The temple is dedicated to the powerful Bhadrakali Devi, who is believed to have appeared to the ruling Samoothiri after his penance. Nestled at the foothills of Thenmala, this temple provides a serene and calming atmosphere for worship. The rituals are conducted with great devotion, leaving visitors feeling content and spiritually uplifted. Even though we visited on a weekend, we experienced a blissful and peaceful darshan. We’ll definitely be returning—Amme Narayana!
Inside the main temple, to the right of the main deity, there is an oil lamp representing Ganapathy, which can be seen by viewing from the side. There is also a shrine for Ayyappa in the southwest corner of the inner courtyard, and as you walk around the temple, you’ll find Sarpa Devatas (serpent deities) in the northwest corner.
On the outer wall of the temple, there are additional small shrines for Ganapathy and Veerabhadra.
Offerings at the temple include Trikala Pooja, Kadumadhura Payasam, Bhavathiseva, Annadhanam, Neyyappam (evening only), Nei Vilakku, Thechimala Rakthapushpanjali, Ganapathy Homam, various Archanas, and Katina Vedi.
Located on the Pollachi–Thrissur Road, the temple is easy to reach by car or bus from Palakkad (via Nemmara), Pollachi, Govindapuram, and Thrissur. After getting off at the main road, it’s about a 1 km walk south on the panchayat road to reach the temple, or you can hire an...
