Poomala Dam is an irrigation purpose dam and a tourist spot situated in Mulankunnathukavu Panchayath under Puzhakkal block in Thrissur, Kerala State of India. In 1939 a division weir was constructed in the Poomala Valley and in 1968 a Poomala reservoir was commissioned. The dam is managed by the Kerala Minor Irrigation Department and is constructed with mud and stone. Poomala Dam was officially designated as a tourist centre by the Home Minister of State, Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, on 21 March 2010. The dam is situated 94.50 meters above mean sea level.    Read moreA very beautiful place .....I was very happy seeing this place...but got very desperate ...seeing people having snacks and putting the plastic cover and bottles in the waterfall .....nobody was there to control or guide ...visitors are free to enter ..no charges for entry ... The fishes in the water will give you a natural pedicure ....that was a very lovely experience...I kindly request the authorities to properly guide and make the visitors aware ...and make this a plastic free zone by providing dustbin for waste disposal ..this place has the potential to attract many...
