I have visited this Temple many times. The latest visit was on February 21, 2023. A very calm ambience. The temple is maintained neatly. The temple is located near the National Highway. It is not a crowd pulling temple. Very Serene atmosphere. No pomp and grandeur. No wheelchair entrance in this Temple. No carpark is available. This Temple is near the Ananthapuram Vishnu Temple, Dattatreya Temple and Datta Anjaneya Temple. This Temple is maintained by a Trust composed of members of families in Kunnumpuram in Desom,Aluva. About Sree Pallippattu Kavu Bhagavathy Temple. This is an ancient temple more than six hundred years old at Kunnumpuram in Desom about 5 km towards North from Aluva town. The temple was earlier owned by a Nair family called ‘Pallippat' of Annammanada near Mala. Now this Temple is managed and run by a committee of local residents of Desom. This Pallippattu Family was located at Annammanada near Mala in Thrissur District. There is a story behind this ancient Temple. A senior member of Pallippattu Nair Family was an ardent devotee of Goddess Kodungalloor Bhadrakali Bhagavathy. This Pallippattu Nair used to visit on bare foot Sree Kodungalloor Bhagavathy Temple on Mondays for Bhajan. When this Pallippattu Nair became old, it was very difficult for him to reach there on every Monday. So he prayed the Kodungalloor Goddess with his folded hand that he wouldn't be able to visit in future and returned to his native village. On his return journey to his home he reached Kunnumpuram near Desom in Aluva. On reaching the pond in Kunnumpuram, he put his umbrella near the pond and went to the pond for drinking water and refreshing himself. After returning from the pond after refreshments, when he came to take his umbrella, he was not able to take his umbrella back as the same was stuck in the ground. He conducted a ‘Devaprasnam’. He constructed a Temple for Bhadrakali as per the Revelation in the Devaprasnam in the same place where the umbrella was stuck and a Shrine of Goddess Bhadrakali was installed and consecrated and the temple was known as ‘Pallipattu Kavil Bhagavathy Temple’. Originally the idol was made of mud. Later, this mud idol was replaced by a five feet height black laterite stone. The Temple is known to have huge historical significance for being around six centuries old. The Upadevathas are Nagar (Snake God) and Brahma Rakshas. Another Upadevatha is Pallippattu Nair who built this Temple. Ganesha Upadevatha has not been installed. The temple offers three time puja and remains open from 6am to 10am and from 5pm to 8pm on all days in the year. Mudiyettu which is an important traditional ritual in Bhadrakali Temples is not done in this Temple now. Some years ago, the human Darikan was killed by the human Bhadrakali during the Mudiyettu Ritual. After this tragic incident, Mudiyettu was stopped for ever in this Temple. Now the Annual Festival of this Temple is celebrated without Mudiyettu Ritual. Pallippattu Kavil Bhagavathy Temple is now known as Pallippattu Kavu Bhagavathy Temple. This Temple is the Kudumba Paradevatha of many families including Kochuveedu Tharavadu...
