Karimpuzha Sriramaswamy Temple is situated in the Palakkad district, Ottapalam Taluk near the silently flowing Kunthipuzha River. This is one of the rarest Sreerama idols in India. The idol depicts the ever sacrificing Lord Rama, renunciating on the shores of the Sarayu River before his ascent to heaven. He is accompanied by his ever obedient companion, Hanuman. History During the 13 Century, the Samoothiri with the help of military mobilization, conquered the Valluvanad areas. The Samoothiri families were classified into four as per their hierarchy – Eranad Swami Thirumulpad – was called the Samoothiri Eranad Ilamkur Nambiyadhiri Thirumulpad – was known as Earalppad Eranad Moonamkur Nambiyadhiri Thirumulpad – was the Moonnalppad Edatharanad Nambiyadhiri Thirumulpad, the Edatharalppad When the Samoothiri conquered Thrikannamathilakam, the Earalppad was entrusted with the governing of Nedunganaadu .Sri Krishnapuram and the neighbouring areas came under the Nedunganadu . Thereby Samoothiri entrusted his brother Earalppad with the governing activities of the temple. So Earalppad made this Temple the centre point and constructed a palace for simplifying his governing activities. Thereby started the revival of the temple. The Earalppad insisted that the temple follow the same ceremonies and rituals as at the Guruvayur temple - his brother's (Samoothiri) major temple. With the reconstruction of the temple, the Earalppad, brought to Karimpuzha many families for the various temple activities. They were - Ten Ambalavaasi families made up of – Two Warrier families comprising of Puthiya variam and Pazhaya variam. Two Pisharadi families made of Pazhaya Pisharam & Chakrath Pisharam. Two Nambeesan families made of Padinjare Pushpakam & Kizhakke Pushpakam and the Four Poduval families – Thekkedam, Vadakkedam, Naduvil and Chemmarath.

A great Kerala style temple with beautiful atmosphere. Kunthippuzha, a nutrient river of Bharathppuzha is located so near to this Temple. Lord Sri Rama is worshipped here. The sreekovil is so small so you can see the Sri Rama Bhagavan Idol from very near. This temple is so famous for Bali tarpana rituals. This temple is so well maintained. Always can experience birds and ther natural animals sound on here. Everyone in Palakkad must visit this Temple at least one time. Highly recommending this Temple for relaxation and pray. And also reccommnding this temple for karkkadaka vavu day bali tharppana rituals.

This is one of the five famous Sreeramaemples. As per the customs of temple structures this is a Mahakshethram having panchaprakarams, saparivara prathishtas etc.,.This is under the control of "Eralpad Sthani' of Zamoorin of Kozhikode. Regarding the consecration it is believed as follows. After the construction work of the temple structure was over in all aspects no idol was got timely for consecration in the auspicious time. Then an idol of rama worshipped by Kaippedath Nair in his house was brought and consecrated facing east. It is believed that bhagavan himself turned facing west as prayed by Nair whowas a deep devotee. Now the idol is seen as facing west. The deity is believed as posed entering to River Sarayoo for swargarohana. Karimpuzha river flowing south to the temple is believed as Sarayoo and hence rituals for the ancestors are done in this river. Annual festival of 8 days starts with flaghoisting on punartham asterick of Meenam month.consecration day is on Revathy asterick of Meenam.Mukhamthiri padaharam, kalampattu, thiyyattu, vedi offering, niramala etc., are...
