It is with great pleasure that I recount my experience at the esteemed St. Mary's Forane Church in Kanjoor. This magnificent house of worship is a testament to the unwavering devotion of its faithful and the enduring legacy of its storied history. Upon approaching the church's magnificent façade, one cannot help but be struck by the sheer majesty of its design. From its towering spires to its meticulously crafted reliefs, every element of the church's architecture exudes a sense of awe-inspiring beauty. As one steps inside the church's hallowed halls, they are enveloped by an atmosphere of profound reverence and contemplation. The intricate details of the church's interior design, including its exquisite stained glass windows and ornate altarpiece, are a testament to the skill and dedication of the artisans who brought them to life. But beyond its stunning aesthetic, the true essence of St. Mary's Forane Church lies in its deep spiritual significance. For generations, this hallowed space has served as a beacon of hope and a sanctuary for the faithful. Its rich history and enduring legacy are a testament to the transformative power of faith and the enduring power of community. In conclusion, my visit to St. Mary's Forane Church in Kanjoor was a deeply moving and transformative experience. Its timeless beauty, rich history, and profound spiritual significance make it a true gem among the world's great houses of worship.

A lot is mentioned about the church in the review ,I shall highlight on the Legends and Folklore During Tipu Sultan's military campaign against the Portuguese, many locals sought refuge in the church seeking protection. It is believed that the church and the intercession of St. Mary protected the people from the ravages of war. The war Mural is depicted on the 2 sides of the church Legend is that even Shakthan Thampuran, the powerful ruler of Cochin, was a devotee of the Kanjoor church. Local folklore is that once the King of Cochin was taking his royal entourage through the village and he found a man blocking the entrance to the church. The infuriated King ordered the gateway to be demolished. When he returned to the palace, he found his own palace gate being razed to the ground by an elephant owned by him. Sensing divine fury in his act, the King offered an elephant-shaped lamp as a form of atonement to the church. This lamp is paraded during the festivals at the church.
