BEAUTY

A very famous temple in south India which doe not have any type of publicity given other than mouth publicity. It is believed that Maha Deva in its full power here. Devotees come here to get their body purified from the poision they have consumed from their enemies. The medicine given from the temple is believed to have the power to purify the poison in side. The medicine is taken after morning Pooja. After initial screening the next day morning they gave the medicine. After taking the medicine the devotee starts vomitting if poison is inside. after initial movement vomited severely and became alright. Nearest daily station is Cherthala and Bus station is also Cherthala. It’s 7 KMs from Cherthala. It was really worth to visit and enjoy the beauty , the service rendered by the staff were very good .

You have to reach the day before atleast by 3.30-4. Rooms are allocated first come first serve.By stander is a must for taking medicine.

Stay at temple premise is at very liw cost. Rooms are extremely below standard. you are there for one night.

After check-in 6.30pm, regular evening puja starts. At 8 pm Gurudi for participants starts. They will give a piece of unniappam, red prasadam & banana. you need to put red prasadam on forehead as well as eat the red prasadam and everything else.

Simple dinner for by-stander and yourself by the temple. You must not leave the temple premises after Gurudi.

Next morning if you are eager to attend all temple functions, it starts at 4am, but not compulsory.

At 7 am, personswho are taking the medicine have to assemble.Pujas followed by our name be called out and we receive one serving of the medicine in a container with a few tiny pieces of bananas.Everyone is required to drink every drop at one go if possible.

Post which you have to brisk walk around the temple for 45mins approx. The goal is to get your body as heated as possible by physical exertion. So move as much possible. Sweating profusely is good. The temple man will then give luke warm water to drink. The first container of water itself with induce vomiting. Vomiting will be surprisingly loud and lots. You don't need to feel concious, there will be other 30-40 people vomiting around you. Everyone is trying to vomit and doing their own business, so don't feel concious at all. You are required to drink atleast 8 container full of water. Guaranteed that this 8 container worth water will come out of you as puke. They advise to walk more in between drinking water, so that your body is still heated. Keep an eye on what you vomit because those are the things we are supposed to look for.

Post this, they give payasam to participants to drink. If you stick around you can take home two payasam and some temple rice. (Need to take your own container). A feeling of puke will still remain along with slight pain in stomach. Not big. It's just a discomfort.

Non-hindus are to do all the same process right outside the temple under a banyan tree. Someone will assist you.

Whole thing gets over by around 10am. You can pack up and...

The Thiruvizha Mahadeva Temple, located in Thiruvizha near Cherthala, Alappuzha district, Kerala, is a significant Hindu pilgrimage site dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is particularly renowned for its unique rituals and a strong belief in its curative powers. Here are some key points about the temple: Principal Deity: The main deity is Lord Shiva, worshipped in the form of Kalakandha, which means "the one who swallowed the poison." This form is a reference to the mythical event of Samudra Manthana (the churning of the ocean), where Shiva drank the halahala poison to save the world. Curative Powers: The temple is famous for its association with healing, particularly for those suffering from mental illnesses, black magic, or poisoning (kaivisham). The most notable ritual is the "Marunnu Seva" (medicinal service). Devotees believe that a special medicated milk, prepared with a unique plant found only within the temple premises, can cause people to vomit and expel the toxic or negative elements from their bodies. This ritual is believed to cure various ailments and afflictions. Rituals and Worship: Abhisheka: A special ritual involves anointing the Linga (the idol of Lord Shiva) with milk 1001 times, a unique practice of this temple. Pantheeradi Pooja: This is an important morning ritual, where the medicated milk is offered to the deity and then distributed as prasadam (blessed food) to the patients. Vishnu Shrine: The temple complex also houses a separate shrine for Lord Vishnu, and Payasam (a type of sweet milk pudding) offered to him is also given to the patients as part of the healing process. Legend and History: The temple's origin is tied to a legend where a woman accidentally struck a stone in a pond, causing blood to flow. A sage later appeared and consecrated a Lingam on the spot, telling the locals to build a temple there. The temple is believed to have been consecrated by the sage Vilwamangalam Swamiyar. The main sanctum is situated below ground level, a unique architectural feature. Unique Features: The temple's prasadam is a potent purgative. Devotees who undertake the "Marunnu Seva" are expected to maintain strict purity of mind and body, abstaining from non-vegetarian food, alcohol, and other worldly pleasures...
