Thootha Pooram is one of the grandest and most vibrant temple festivals in Kerala, celebrated with immense devotion and cultural fervor. Held at the Thootha Bhagavathy Temple in Palakkad district, this Pooram attracts thousands of devotees and spectators from across the state and beyond. What makes Thootha Pooram stand out is not just the spiritual significance, but the sheer scale and splendor of its celebrations.

One of the main highlights of the festival is the majestic parade of over 30 caparisoned elephants. These elephants, including some of Keralaโ€™s most famous and celebrated tuskers, are adorned with decorative nettipattams (golden headgear), bells, and ornaments, creating a breathtaking sight for the onlookers. The synchronised melam (traditional percussion ensemble) played during the event fills the air with a rhythmic energy that resonates through the crowd, building up the festive mood.

The Pooram is also known for its vibrant fireworks, colorful processions, and the enthusiastic participation of the local community. For those interested in Keralaโ€™s rich traditions, Thootha Pooram offers a captivating experience that blends devotion, artistry, and cultural pride. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a regular attendee, the electrifying atmosphere, the pageantry, and the spiritual essence make Thootha Pooram an unforgettable...

Also known as Bhadrakali temple this is situated on the southern bank of Thootha ( Kunthi) puzha having perennial and pure water flow. It is believed that a brahmin lady who was taking bath in the river saw a floating vessel(kudam) with milk is coming down. She catched it and placed it on the riverbank. After bath she tried to take the kudom but in vain. A temple was constructed there. It is also believed differently as the lady was not a brahmin and she was a member of veettikkattu nair family. This temple is older than 900 years. Now this is under the control of malabar devaswom board. Pavakkoothu starting on the day flag hoisting will come to an end on the day of pooram asterich.Flaghoisting is on Vishu day. Pana is also considered as an...

Thootha Sree Bhagavathi temple is a very popular and powerful DEITY of the locality. The mother's blessings are always there for the devotees. The scenic beauty is also great. There is a good river near by to take bath and proceed to take blessings from the Devi. I was fortunate to witness the " Paavakoothu" - an art form which is done through out the night. The surrounding area is very conducive for your Sadhana. There is a good stage also to do the Yoga practices, but this subjected to availability. The place is clearly noticable from the highway. I feel blessed to be able to spend...

Beautiful temple. Devi looks stunning. The darsanam is so easy here as the idol is huge and nothing in front of it to block the view. Stay here for 10 minutes and peace of mind is guaranteed. This temple is on the bank of river Kunthy. Route: Cherpulassery to Perinthalmanna (Thootha Bridge)
