In historical accounts, the darshanam, or sacred view, of Trikkannad Tryambakeshwara initially faced east. However, as the revered deity Shiva within these sanctified premises assumed a fierce and formidable form (ugramurti), the orientation of the darshan was altered to face west, towards the tranquil waters of the sea, in an effort to placate the deity's wrath. Historically, the Kshetra Thattakam encompassed 30 villages, with the temple originally associated with Chirakkal Kovilakam. Subsequently, its administration came under the stewardship of the Anjuru Achannmar, leaders overseeing 500 Nair families.
