Vattayi Waterfalls in Thrissur, Kerala, is a hidden treasure that offers a refreshing escape into nature. Tucked away in a lush green forest, this waterfall is less crowded, making it an ideal spot for those seeking tranquility and a close connection with nature.

The journey to the falls is itself a delightful experience, with scenic views of the surrounding landscape. Once you reach the waterfall, the sight of water cascading down the rocks into a serene pool below is truly mesmerizing. The sound of the water and the cool mist in the air create a calming atmosphere that instantly puts you at ease.

The area around the falls is perfect for a peaceful picnic or a quiet moment of reflection. Although the facilities are minimal, the raw and untouched beauty of the place more than makes up for it. If you're an adventure lover, the short trek to the falls adds an element of excitement to your visit.

Vattayi Waterfalls is a great destination for anyone looking to unwind and enjoy the natural beauty of Kerala. It's an ideal spot for nature enthusiasts, photographers, or anyone looking for a serene retreat away from the...

Vattayi Waterfalls, nestled in the serene village of Kundukad near Thekkumkara, Thrissur, is a hidden gem perfect for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers. Located approximately 17 km from Thrissur city, this three-tiered waterfall offers a refreshing escape into the lush greenery of Kerala's Western Ghats. The area is ideal for activities like trekking, swimming, and photography, with the monsoon season enhancing its beauty. Accessible via Kundukad Road, visitors can enjoy the natural surroundings and tranquil ambiance. The falls are open daily from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and entry is free, making it a budget-friendly destination for families and solo travelers alike. Vattayi Waterfalls is one of the most peaceful and scenic spots I’ve visited in Thrissur district. This waterfall is a perfect destination for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone looking to take a break from city life.

The waterfall isn't too tall, but it flows beautifully over layered rocks, creating a calm and soothing environment. The best time to visit is during or right after the monsoon season, when the water flow is at its peak and the surrounding greenery is at its most vibrant.

The place is not commercialized yet, which makes it even more special. It’s not crowded like other tourist spots, so you can actually enjoy the sound of the waterfall and the beauty of nature without any disturbances. There’s a small stream and rocky area where kids can safely play in the water (with adult...

This small, hidden waterfall deep in the Poomala village is truly a gem of nature. The sound of flowing water, the cool breeze, and the greenery around create a perfect atmosphere for peace, reflection, or a refreshing family visit. It’s one of those spots where you feel connected with nature instantly. But sadly, this beautiful place is being destroyed by careless human behavior. When I visited, I saw heaps of plastic bottles, kids’ diapers, snack wrappers, and disposable plates scattered all around. There is no proper waste management, no one to clean, and no responsible body watching over the area. People come here to enjoy nature, but they leave it in a worse state. It’s heartbreaking to see such a natural blessing slowly being turned into a dump yard.

Vattayi Waterfalls is a lovely little escape, especially during the rainy season. What makes it special is that it’s not just one waterfall — there’s a second one just a few meters below the first, like a hidden surprise from nature. Both are perfect for a refreshing dip or simply soaking your feet and relaxing. It’s a peaceful spot, safe even for kids if you’re careful, and surrounded by lush greenery. Come with your friends or family, enjoy a quiet nature bath, and just take in the beauty around you. The only downside is limited parking, so plan accordingly. But once you’re there, the sound of the water and the calmness of the place make it all worth it. Ideal for a short, soul-refreshing break if you’re nearby.

A very natural waterfalls created by nature. Visited during October month and there was plenty of water. Its very much safe as you can see in the images and hence I can say that its suitable for all ages. Vattayi waterfls is located around 8 Kms from Tiroor junction and the road way to the falls is very good, takes around 15 minutes drive. Only negative is that, after parking our vehicle, we will have to step down through a slab in order to reach the destination which might be difficult for familes. Also please dont forget to avoid slippery stones in and out of the water.
