Vazhachal Falls, located in the Athirappilly Panchayath of Thrissur district in Kerala, is a hidden gem on the southwest coast of India. Situated on the west-flowing Chalakudy River near the Vazhachal Forest Division and at the edge of the Sholayar ranges, this breathtaking natural wonder is just a short 5 km distance from the entrance of Athirappilly Falls.

The journey to Vazhachal Falls, approximately 36 km from Chalakudy, is itself a prelude to the spectacular experience that awaits. The lush greenery and the serene ambiance of the Vazhachal Forest Division provide a soothing escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The falls' majestic cascade, set against the backdrop of verdant forests, is a sight that leaves an indelible mark on one's soul.

Every visit to Vazhachal Falls has been a mesmerizing experience for me. The beauty of the falls, coupled with the tranquility of the surroundings, creates an atmosphere of profound peace and reflection. The sound of the rushing water, the cool mist in the air, and the vibrant flora all contribute to an immersive natural experience that words can scarcely capture.

It is important to note that access to Vazhachal Falls requires an entry ticket, which is a small price to pay for such a magnificent spectacle. Visitors are allowed to enjoy the falls from the designated garden area, and it is crucial to adhere to this restriction. The falls, while stunningly beautiful, are also dangerously powerful. For safety reasons, venturing into the waters is strictly prohibited.

In conclusion, Vazhachal Falls is a must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts and those seeking a tranquil retreat. Its unparalleled beauty and serene environment make it a perfect spot for reflection and rejuvenation. Vazhachal Waterfalls is a breathtaking natural wonder located in Kerala, India, and I had the pleasure of visiting it recently. This cascading beauty nestled within the lush Sholayar forest is a sight to behold.

The first thing that struck me was the pristine surroundings. The dense greenery and the sounds of the forest create an immersive experience that transports you to a different world. The waterfalls themselves are impressive, with a powerful flow that creates a mesmerizing spectacle. The sight and sound of the water crashing down into the pool below is truly captivating.

Visiting during the monsoon season was a great decision, as the waterfalls were at their fullest, showcasing nature's raw power. The mist rising from the waterfall added to the mystique of the place. Be prepared to get wet, as the spray from the falls reaches quite a distance.

The area around Vazhachal Waterfalls is well-maintained, with designated viewing areas and walking paths. It's an excellent spot for nature enthusiasts, photographers, and families. The local guides are knowledgeable and can provide insights into the flora and fauna of the region.

One highlight of my visit was the opportunity to see several species of colorful butterflies and various birds in the vicinity, making it a paradise for wildlife enthusiasts as well.

While there are a few small shops and stalls selling refreshments and souvenirs, it's advisable to carry your own snacks and water as options can be limited.

In conclusion, Vazhachal Waterfalls is a natural gem that offers a refreshing escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Its pristine beauty, combined with the surrounding forest, creates a serene and rejuvenating atmosphere. It's a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Kerala, and I highly recommend experiencing this marvel of...

This place is just 5 kms from Athirapally falls. The drive to this place is through a Palm plantation...I drove from Athani to this place, at the month of July (mid month). The water force was strong and the best part is that their is a walking lane just adjacent to the gushing water... the pathway is not smooth so need to be careful (elderly and young childrens). Overall I liked this place walking admist lush greenery and rush of the waters is simply amazing. If you need to 'do' something in order to enjoy, stay away. This is a pure 'be' place. About 6 kms from Athirapilly water falls, another 'be' place, Vazhachal rapids change into waterfalls during the monsoon, due to the rocks on which the water roars in its inability to be still. Yet, this very fact and the excellent way that Vazhachal is managed, without anything to do except park the car and walk down, provides visitors with the opportunity to be, just be and experience movement. Conversations take a back seat as the roaring river drowns most sounds. Beware of monkeys waiting for a quick bite from the hands of the unwary and beware of wild elephants on this road. Stop at Chappa falls on the way back to be able to distinguish furious roars from mighty roars. They are much more than beautiful or powerful. Go there, and just be.Less touristy and a more tranquil atmosphere than neighbouring Anthirappilly Falls, this is well worth a visit. The garden area is pleasant, with plenty of wildlife around. The falls themselves are very different in nature to Anthirappilly but are no less spectacular. Lots of shade for sitting in peace.
