An historically very important place. The remains of an ancient fort is there. A sign board saying "Cheruvathur Fort" is there on the NH. A visitor has to search the remaining around the abandoned shelter home. It lyes on the right back of the shelter. This entire area is now with the forest department, including the remains. Visitors can see an old collapsed mud Wall and a small stage like mud hight, there was stone packing around the mud but disappeared due to its age and lack of maintenance.
