Bala Subramanya Swamy Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Murugan located at Vellimalai in Kanyakumari District of Tamilnadu. This Temple is located atop of the hill Vellimalai. This Temple attracts lot of pilgrims from the surrounding areas. The 200 feet high Vellimalai hill is located in the southern tip of the Indian subcontinent. View from top of hill is stunning. Especially in the evening. Western ghats look so nice in sunset! Some peacocks were roaming around. Small shrines for vinayagar and Shiva are also there. A shop for Pooja items ,for archanai is there on the temple premises. Temple also has diff Pooja lists available, like annadanam, weddings. Steps from the road to climb to the hillock were also near. It was a beautiful morning. The temple is located on top of a small hill (velli Malai) with 50-60 odd stairs (approximately). This was our tourist Driver's choice and he told us that “vael” or a spear, (Lord Subramanya’s weapon), came out of the hill and hence Lord Murugan’s temple was built. It was the most pleasant site of the tour.
On top of the hill, you would see coconut farms surrounding the hill and far south, the view of Indian Ocean provides a great opportunity for photo enthusiasts.
