Zoravar fort is on the name of a great General Zoravar Singh... This place offers history of Gen. Zorawar Singh, all his battles stories are shown at fort in Light and Sound show at 8pm everyday except monday. The entry ticket can be purchased only from Hall of Fame, so before visiting this place visit hall of fame. Some History which I came to know and wanted to share - Gulab Singh, the Dogra ruler of Jammu, joined the army as a sepoy but due to his bravery and leadership qualities, Gulab Singh assigned him the responsibility of the commander of his army. He advanced from Jammu and conquered Ladakh including Kashmir, Baltistan, Skardu and occupied the entire area. He then bravely tried to conquer western Tibet, but was defeated in the Battle of Tu-Yoni during the Dogra-Tibetan War. He is known as the Napoleon of India for his invincible adventuresand conquests in the world's highest Himalayan mountains where daily life is also full of struggles. Ladakh is a part of India today and the credit goes to Sardar Jorawar Singh Kahluria. Do visit the fort and Museum on your visit to Leh, you will definitely get a lot of information regarding history of Ladakh and how it became a part of India.
