Kajligarh is one of the most beautiful and underrated picnic spots around Indore. Surrounded by dense greenery, it's the kind of place where you truly feel connected to nature — so much so that you may not even feel like returning home. If you're lucky enough to experience rain while you're there, the beauty of the landscape multiplies and creates a truly magical atmosphere. However, if you're visiting with small children, please be cautious. Some areas can be a bit risky for them, so it's important to keep an eye out. One of the most spiritual highlights of Kajligarh is the Swambhoo Shivji Temple, located just nearby. Simply visiting the temple brings a deep sense of peace and calmness to the heart. And here's a hidden secret — there's a lesser-known cave-like temple just near the fort. It’s not known to many tourists, and to reach it, you have to climb down about 50 stairs. It feels like discovering a secret tucked away in nature’s lap. Overall, Kajligarh is not just a fort — it’s a blend of adventure, peace, and scenic beauty. A perfect day getaway for nature lovers and spiritual seekers alike.

On the Khandwa Road, about 25 miles away from Indore city, near a beautiful valley and a glistening waterfall, Kajligarh Fort in Indore is located. The fort and its surrounding area are considered as one of the most happening picnic spots around Indore. The place is preferred by couples for its scenic beauty, pristine surroundings and tranquility that one could not get in many places. Families prefer the place for its calm and quite surrounding that makes it an ideal spot for picnics, outing or even small family gathering. This ideal one day outing spot does not get many footfalls here as this fort is yet unknown to even most of the local people of Indore. Adventure lovers come here to trekking and camping. Nestled among the lush green surrounding, the place is considered as one of the most offbeat weekend getaways for locals of Indore City as well as for the tourists One such historical place in the outskirt of Indore City is the Kajligarh Fort, located about 20 km away from Indore City. The fort is nestled on a hill and is surrounded by a valley having a small waterfall.

Had been to this place recently. It is a treat to visit this place during rainy seasons. Most of the visitors only restrict to the remnants of the fort and the scenic beauty one can see from the fort which is at a height. But the thrill remains in tacking a track down the hill crossing the fence forest . You will find reveret crossing your path several times. For a normal tracker one can track about 2.5 km and stop at the flowing reveret and for avid trackers additional 2km down to the reverete which has slightly deeper waters. Enjoy bathing in the reverete have your meal and start the return journey. It is advisable to have proper tracking gear,a bottle of water , spare clothes. The place also has a temple and goushala. Do visit the temple and goushala and take a chance to make a donation. There are monkeys too. You can feed them Since it is a notified village forest there is a nominal fee of around rs 10 per person. People interested in tracking should always do it in a group with at least one or two expert trackers.

It's perfect for time spend with partner. Peaceful and solitude place. Kajligarh Fort is a historical fort located near Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India. It's often described as a majestic ruin, whispering tales of Rajasthan's past and showcasing Rajput architecture and military strategy. Here's a breakdown of what's known about Kajligarh Fort: Location and Accessibility: It's situated on an isolated rocky hill at the end of the Vindhya Range, overlooking the plains. Approximately 25 kilometers from Indore city, on the Khandwa Road, near a valley and a waterfall. It's considered an offbeat weekend getaway and a picnic spot, particularly popular for its scenic beauty during the monsoon season. Visitors typically need to trek a short distance from the base of the hill to reach the fort. History and Rulers: The exact origins are somewhat mysterious, but historical accounts suggest it dates back to the early Rajput period, serving as a strategic defensive position. It's believed to have changed hands between various Rajput clans over centuries, each leaving their architectural mark. Its elevated position made it ideal for controlling trade routes and protecting surrounding areas, leading to numerous sieges and battles. Like many forts, its strategic importance declined with modern weaponry, and it eventually fell into ruin and was largely abandoned. Some sources credit the Paramar rulers or even the Mauryan era with its construction, while others mention it being rebuilt by the Holkar dynasty, particularly under Ahilya Bai Holkar. Current Condition and Features: The fort is largely in ruins, but its crumbling walls, intricate carvings, and weathered stones still offer a glimpse into its past grandeur. It offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, especially picturesque during the rainy season with lush greenery and waterfalls. There's also a cave with a Shiv Lingam known as Kajligarh Mahadev, attracting devotees. Safety Concerns: It's important to note that the fort has been associated with serious safety concerns in the past, including incidents of crime. While authorities have taken action, it's advisable to be aware and cautious, especially if visiting in isolated areas or during off-peak hours. Some reports mention issues with "rowdy elements" and littering. Overall: Kajligarh Fort offers a blend of history, natural beauty, and a chance to explore a lesser-known historical site. While its past is significant, recent safety concerns highlight the need for visitors to...
