Chauragarh Temple is a well-known historical temple in the beautiful hill station of Pachmarhi. Perching atop the peak of Chauragarh hill, this temple enshrines Lord Shiva. It was built during the reign of the King Sangram Shah and is also known as 'Chhota Mahadeo Mandir'.

At a distance of 9 km from Priyadarshini Point, and 15 km from Pachmarhi Bus Station, Chauragarh Temple is a revered Hindu shrine located in Pachmarhi, Madhya Pradesh. Also known as Chota Mahadeo, it is one of the prominent places of Pilgrimage in Madhya Pradesh, and among the top places to visit in Pachmarhi.

The Chauragarh Temple is situated atop the Chauragarh Hill, the third highest peak of Pachmarhi at an altitude of 1330 m. Surrounded by spectacular hills and verdant valleys, this age-old temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple complex comprises the main temple, a Dharamshala, and a natural pond. The temple is known for the thousands of tridents stuck in the temple premises, offered by devotees over the years.

Devotees need to climb 1300 steps to reach this holy place. During Nag Panchami and Maha Shivratri festivals, devotees are seen climbing this steep path, carrying heavy Trishuls as a part of religious norms. Offering a Trishul is considered auspicious and is like thanksgiving, once the wish has been fulfilled. The view of the sunrise from here is quite breathtaking, so are the surrounding forested valleys.

Shree Chauragarh Mahadev Temple in Pachmarhi is a remarkable spiritual destination, perched atop a series of five mountains. The climb to the temple is invigorating, offering stunning views and a sense of accomplishment. As you ascend, you'll notice numerous trishulas (tridents) placed by devotees, each symbolizing their devotion to Mahadev.

The journey is made more enjoyable by various vendors along the path, selling tasty snacks like Maggi and channa, perfect for a quick energy boost. Keep in mind that Pachmarhi is home to many monkeys, and you’ll encounter them frequently during your visit. While they add a lively atmosphere, it’s wise to keep your belongings secure.

The temple itself radiates peace and devotion, making it an ideal spot for reflection and prayer. The natural beauty surrounding the temple enhances the experience, allowing visitors to connect with nature and spirituality simultaneously. Whether you're a local or a traveler, this sacred site is a must-visit when in Pachmarhi. Be prepared for an unforgettable adventure filled with devotion, scenic beauty, and the delightful...
