I recently had the opportunity to spend a few hours at an Anandashram, and I wanted to share my experience. From the moment I arrived, I felt a sense of peace. The surroundings were beautiful; nestled in nature, it offered the perfect backdrop for reflection and relaxation. We explored the photo gallery in the entrance, which showcases historic pictures of Swamy Ramadas (PAPA Swamy), Mata Krishna Bhai, and other gurus. The environment is well maintained, and daily programs are well organized with daily Ram Nam chanting and Satsang. Free daily healthy vegetarian meals and homestay for up to 3 days help make any visitor's stay comfortable and fulfilling. Visitors to Anandashram can also participate in various spiritual programs, such as discourses and bhajans, and attend yoga and meditation classes. The daily schedule included yoga sessions, meditation, and bhajans focused on mindfulness and spirituality. I appreciated how well-structured the days were, allowing for both personal time and community activities. The instructors were knowledgeable and truly passionate about their teachings, which made the experience even more enriching. One thing that stood out to me was the emphasis on simplicity and being present. Meals were communal and vegetarian, and I found that sharing food with others created a warm, inviting atmosphere. Everyone was friendly and open, making it easy to connect with people from different backgrounds. Overall, my stay at the ashram was a fantastic experience that encouraged me to slow down and reflect on my life. I left feeling more centered and inspired to continue exploring the teachings I had encountered there. If you’re looking for a peaceful escape and a chance to deepen your understanding of mindfulness, I would definitely recommend visiting an Anandashram.

This is a serene, tranquil and nature rich place having soothing effect!. The administrators and people of this presinct are gentle and compassionate in approach being ready to assist the visitor with kindness and concern. Free accomodation. Free satvic food. Rooms are rightly neither posh nor luxurious but ordinary, clean, simple and tidy having basic amenities. This Ashram has a book stall, little library and a 'Goshaala'(Big cattle shed with many cows). Daily activities include chanting in chorus, Bhajans, discourses etc. It's a good place for quickly refreshing one's mind and spirit. Cameras and cell phones are allowed!. Yet almost all visitors behave in a decent and polite way without violating the sanctity of this Ashram. I met and interacted with visitors from Russia, U.K., France, Japan and various States of India apart from briefly interacting with some genuine Saadhus and Saints of India at ANANDASHRAMA which opened many windows in my mind. It's about 5 km distance from railway station of Kanangad. Taxi/autorickshaw available from that railway station. Finest wishes.

Source Wikipedia.. Anandashram (ആനന്ദാശ്രമം) (Hindi: अनंदाश्रम) (English translation = "Abode of Bliss") is a spiritual retreat located in Kanhangad, a city and a municipality in Kasaragod district in the Indian state of Kerala.[1] Anandashram was founded by Swami Ramdas and Mother Krishnabai, also called Papa Ramdas and Pujya Mataji, in 1931.[2]

The idea of setting up an ashram or spiritual centre called "Anandashram" seems to have first occurred to Swami Ramdas in Bombay. He had recently stayed in Kasargod in North Kerala where he had been, according to his memoirs, "put up in a thatched hut on the Pilikunji Hill." [3] While in Bombay, Swami Ramdas wrote to Anandrao (his brother in Kasargod) "expressing a wish to have an Ashram in that place on the Pilikunji hill. [Swami Ramdas] also suggested that it might be named 'Anandashram.'" [4] A small Ashram consisting of a tiny room and an open veranda was constructed upon the hill, to the south of which flowed the Payashwini river. This Anandashram was inaugurated on 3 June 1928.[5] In a letter dated 14 June 1928, Swami Ramdas describes the Ashram thus: "For about a fortnight last, Ramdas has been occupying the new Ashram, got ready for His child by Sri Ram. It is situated in a jungle, at the foot of hills, near a swift running stream. The place is calm and blissful. Morning and evening, the sweet notes of birds fill the air with thrills of ecstasy. Within the Ashram, hymns are sung, and the chanting of God's names goes on, all day and night. Devotees of God are pouring in numbers. Ramdas is merged in a sea of bliss. The Ashram is named "Anandashram"."[6]

This ashram would prove to be the site for the sadhana and self-realization of Mother Krishnabai. On 7 June 1928, just four days after the establishment of the Ashram in Kasargod, the young widow Krishnabai arrived in Kasargod to stay with her sister-in-law.[5] By 1930, she had left her family and was living permanently in the Ashram. Her presence in the Ashram provoked considerable scandal, causing the Ashram's regular inmates to leave; the number of visitors...

The most calm and serene place i have ever visited. It is located on the boundary of Kerala and Karnataka. The beauty of nature in this place is evident early in the morning when you hear different chirping sounds and you can smell the soil. This place is an ideal place for many spiritual aspirants. You can feel the energy of Ram Nam in the air. People here are very supportive and caring and keep repeating OM SRI RAM JAI RAM JAI JAI RAM as advised for their and the world's benefit by the great sage SWAMI RAMDAS the founder of this ashram. They have a goshala or a cow shed where 30-40 cows are kept and are well fed to give the ashramites fresh and energizing milk. People who wish to stay can send an email to the ashram and request accomodation for free. The ashram follows the ideals taught by Swami RAMDAS by waking up and keeping early, dedicating the entire day to God, being independent by doing ones own work. The ashram also has a book stall where people can buy books written by Swami RAMDAS and his followers. The ashram has a library as well, a field near cow shed to grow crops, a medical facility, an information centre to introduce new comers to the ashram which is available to see in different languages, a book stall having books in different languages, a bhajan hall where people keep following some or the other religious and traditional activities including singing Ram Nam with instruments once in the afternoon and once in the night, singing of Ram Nam in alternating cycles of half an hour for gents and ladies in the samadhi mandir of Swami RAMDAS also known as papa, mother Krishnabai and pujya Swami sachidananda. All in all a...
