Har Har Mahadev!

Short version: Limited to no parking on weekend/ festival days. You can marvel about the temple and its carving within few minutes / max half an hour before you move on. You can definitely spend more time, if you are inclined for sculptural and arcitectural insterests.

Long Version:

The Jabreshwar temple, located in Phaltan, is a magnificent example of ancient Indian architecture and a testament to the region’s rich cultural heritage. The temple’s history dates back to the 13th century, when it was built during the reign of the Chalukya Dynasty (Not sure if Seuna Yadavas were involved too). Over the centuries, the temple has undergone several renovations and expansions, but its original charm and grandeur remain intact.

The temple’s exterior is adorned with intricate carvings and sculptures, depicting scenes from Hindu mythology and everyday life. The interior of the temple is equally impressive, with a large sanctum sanctorum and a beautifully crafted shikhara. The temple’s design is a masterpiece of ancient Indian engineering, with a complex system of arches, domes, and pillars that provide excellent acoustics and natural ventilation.

The Jabreshwar temple is not only a significant architectural landmark but also an important center of spiritual and cultural activity. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, and various festivals and celebrations are held throughout the year to honor the deity. The most notable festival is the Maha Shivaratri, which attracts thousands of devotees from all over the region. Other significant festivals include the Navaratri, Ganesh Chaturthi, and Diwali, which are celebrated with great fervor and enthusiasm.

During these festivals, the temple is decorated with colorful lights, flowers, and traditional decorations, creating a vibrant and festive atmosphere. The air is filled with the sound of devotional music, chanting, and the aroma of traditional sweets and snacks. The temple’s priests and devotees come together to perform elaborate puja ceremonies, which are accompanied by traditional dances, music, and theater performances.

In addition to its spiritual significance, the Jabreshwar temple is also an important tourist destination, attracting visitors from all over the world. The temple’s stunning architecture, rich history, and vibrant cultural festivals make it a must-visit destination for anyone interested in exploring India’s rich cultural heritage. Whether you are a history buff, an architecture enthusiast, or a spiritual seeker, the Jabreshwar temple is a place that is sure to leave you spellbound and inspired.

Overall, the Jabreshwar temple is a treasure trove of history, architecture, and culture, and a visit to this magnificent temple is an experience that will stay with you forever. Its rich history, stunning architecture, and vibrant festivals make it a truly unique and unforgettable...

Oldest God Mahadev temple in Phaltan city. They are made with stones so their atmosphere at the time of summer is cool.  The temple is built in stone with beautiful carvings. It's a place still in active use for worshiping. On average people visiting the Ram mandir can spend about 10-15 minutes here.,

It is unique to Maharashtra because in all other Shiva temples, the Shivling has a south-to-north orientation. However, in this temple, it is placed from east to west. Similarly, the door is on the north, unlike elsewhere, where the door is towards the east.

Could do with better maintenance and better boards explaining the history...

It's a place still in active use for worshiping. On an average people visiting the Ram mandir can spend about 10-15 minutes here. The priests are very friendly and show the various features of the carvings along with recounting the history of the place. Parking is available along the walls of the Ram Mandir. Small place. Right in the middle of old Phaltan. Great Architecture. Could do with better maintenance and better boards explaining the historic...

The Jarabeshwar Temple in Phaltan is a fascinating blend of history and architecture. Originally thought to be a Jain temple due to the carvings of the 24 Tirthankaras, it was later transformed into a Shiva temple during the rule of Mudhojirao Nimbalkar IV. The intricate carvings, including guardian deities, celestial figures, and the five-hooded serpent, showcase the skill of Hemadpanthi architecture from the Yadava period (1000–1400 CE). Situated near the Rajwada, this ancient temple offers a unique glimpse into Phaltan’s rich heritage, blending Jain and Hindu traditions in one beautiful structure.

According to the temple priest a 1000 year old temple and the architecture seems to prove so. The temple was apparently built by the Jains but its a mandir of lord Shiva with a beautiful painting inside apart from the lingam. Many of the sculptures outside the temple on its walls and pillars was destroyed by the mughals.
