Attended a 10 Days Vipasanna (Meditation) at Dhamma Giri, Igatpuri and I must admit, it was one of the most profound experiences of my life. Everything is just so perfectly managed. Food was tasty and hygienic. Staying facility was absolutely beautiful. Places is always in the fog during rainy season.
Sharing a few learnings
In the work life, you have daily cycle of up & down moments, not reacting on any of the moment is the key.
Mind : Our mind controls everything and has enormous power that we can't even imagine. We do exercise for our body, we upskill & absorb knowledge for our brain but we do nothing for our mind which control your brain & body. It is your mind which takes all the decisions and keeping it sharp is more important than ever in the generation of AI, where we are going to be lesser dependent on mind. During Vipasanna, we understand how to control your mind and realized the power that it can change the entire scenario. Your responses to situations, reactions over emotions or even the body pain, can all be controlled by mind.
Good Influence : The influence over any situation or people can't be gained by anger, harm, ego or attitude. The good influence can be gained by practicing compassion, and serving others. Look at the Donald Trump trying to gain influence through power & Ratan Tata through compassion.
Dharma : There is only one Dharma which is law of Nature which governs everything irrespective of your beliefs, cultures or religion. If you have purity in mind & have a universal goodwill towards everyone, the law of good karma will always bless you. Praying to a God and offering some donation/Pooja in exchange of some expectation is taking you further away from your goals cause you have lost faith on karma and taking the right path.
Focus : Real focus arises when the mind is free from craving, dislikes, and overthinking. Vipassana purifies the mind, making focus effortless and natural. In today's world, every moment our focus gets scattered through external influences. Instead of multi tasking, I think one should practice sequential focus, meaning dedicated, intense, uninterrupted attention to one task at a time before moving to the next. Think Elon Musk doing multiple things.
Clarity : Our clarity of thoughts has been extremely adulterated in today's with social media content, articles, news & advices etc. We start our morning thoughts with some random LinkedIn post and sleep with a random thought from the series we watched, we have lost originality of our own thoughts. In the 10 days of Vipasanna, where I had no access to phone, practicing noble silence, I was able to think so clearly towards goals & ongoing life.
