Gadeshwar Lake, located in the Raigad district of Maharashtra, India, is a serene and picturesque body of water. It is formed by the Gadeshwar Dam, which is constructed across the river. The lake is a popular destination for picnics and day trips, attracting visitors with its natural beauty and tranquil surroundings.

Here are some key points about Gadeshwar Lake:

Location: Situated near Panvel, it is easily accessible from Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, making it a convenient escape for city dwellers.

Scenic Beauty: The lake is surrounded by lush greenery and hills, providing a stunning backdrop and opportunities for photography. The area is especially vibrant during the monsoon season when the landscape is lush and the water levels are high.

Activities: Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities such as trekking, bird watching, and nature walks. The area is also ideal for picnics and outdoor relaxation.

Flora and Fauna: The surroundings of Gadeshwar Lake are rich in biodiversity. It's a great spot for nature enthusiasts to observe different species of birds and other wildlife.

I visited this place in last week of August 2022. The rain was settled and the water in late and river is also reduced compared to July month. It's a beautiful place with lovely views. Due to less water it was safe to get inside water and enjoy the dip. The water is clean and flowing. Less crowd and fortunately not much of commercialization!! This place is must visit if you live in Mumbai/Navi Mumbai.

Few points to consider

The actual dam is closed for common public. You need to drive further post the map's spot and reach a bridge. This place has access to water.

It's advisable to carry some snaks items, however do not litter around. Carry the waste back home and dispose off.

Mostly on Saturday and Sunday police don't allow tourists. It's better to start early and cross the Nhare village ASAP before police starts checking, ideally before 9-10 am

Last but not least, water levels are low but there are deep spots and patches where one can slip, hence take care and avoid...

I've been to this lake in every season of the year. There's a certain bliss in revisiting the place which shows the natural flow of nature so effortlessly. The lake dries up in summer offering a big space for cattles to graze, during monsoon, groups of fishermen spend hours in fishing. It's gorgeous to meditate and watch the slow yet active life of the people who live there. I found the carcass of a snake after the lake dried up, I met some adorable kids, a small yet beautiful family living in the traditional houses made by themselves.
