From CSMT station it takes around 2 long hours or so to reach the nearest station, that is Bhivpuri Road station. From there you have to walk around 10 minutes or so through Dixal village's interiors. Now you'll reach a certain elevation from where you'll get to admire the beauty of Bhivpuri lake and the grandeur of the ghats surrounding you. They stand tall and invincible, almost as if they were reincarnation of your ancestors and gods of old passing upon judgement over you. Almost as if mocking your insolence to try and dare to scale the lengths and highets of the ghats. The lake's beauty is tempting. So much so that I found it almost irresistible to try not to swim in it. But I had to control my temptations. The lake was like a succubus calling me in, trying to devour me in and through it's beauty. We walked around the lake and walked furthermore to reach a plunge pool formed by a nearby waterfall. It's a nice little distraction but the majesty of Garbett keeps on calling. You walk your distance up to the beautiful rice fields of a little settlement. There are these little pinkish flowers growing along the meadows which never fail to remind me of that scene from the movie The Gladiator, when Maximus (Russell Crowe) thinks of finally getting to meet his family while walking through the fields as he lay dieing. Moving onward you'll have to go through the settlement I mentioned earlier. The settlement shows a rather healthy population of chickens. I guess every household must be having 2 to 3 of them. As you'll walk through, there will be 4 to 5 kids standing to greet you speaking in perfect sync 'bye-bye, chocolate' hoping you'll be kind enough to spare a candy or two. There will be a well which is nor too deep nor too shallow, but just the right size. It is the perfect opportunity to refill your water bottles as no Acqua di Cristallo Tributo a Modigliani would be as pure as this water( by the way Acqua di Cristallo Tributo a Modigliani costs $60,000 per 750ml. Can you believe that?!!!). Now, after all walking and goofing around starts the real trek. If you think you are exhausted, you better gulp in some energy drink because believe you me, you WILL need it! The trek exhausted me to the death. My friends were way ahead of me and my other friend was way behind me. And I am so grateful to the other friend lagging behind, if not for him I would have never got the chance to rest saying, 'hey guys, I'll stay here and check on him otherwise he'll be left behind'. And I swear to God did I exploit him lagging behind to the fullest. After a while of dragging this dead load of meat and bones that was my body, I reached the destination where my friends were(probably) waiting for me. Reaching the plateau is probably one of the most memorable moments of my life. There were many people up there(cause it was a Saturday) yet, I felt alone. In solitude not in isolation. The feeling was so great. It was as if I was close to the ancestors and gods of old that till now, were looking down to me were now embracing me with open arms. From the heights of the plateau, I could see the the lake, the village, the fields, everything and evermore. I laid down on the vast stretch of green and played my playlist of some psychedelic space rock. And just went into retrospect. The music and the place both were great for it. Me and my friends agreed that it's about time we get on our way back. And so started our journey back. Trekking down was tricky because it was raining and it was hard to find a sure footing. Often we would slip or fall, but nothing serious. We endured no injury or hurt, infact it was quite fun. We went back the same way we came( which is not recommend). Trekking to Garbett plateau is a fun getaway for anyone. Most of the people usually come on weekends from Mumbai and Pune. It is one of the cheapest things that you can do on your weekends. Me and my friends were just 5 people and it took around only 250 Rs. per person for such...

Garbett is near the MTDC Resort, Matheran MTDC Resort, Matheran Dasturi Naka, at distance for 2 km max. But if u want to trek this point then another option is available. U can start u r journey from bhivpuri station. Then enter in the DIKSAL VILLAGE. After going 300-400 meter u saw the dam.. Beautiful dam having crystal clear water but don't go in that water for swimming if u r not swimmer because the dam is new n the soil under water can make difficult to swimming. Along the left side of the dam by walking u can cross the dam and waterfall. Be careful during crossing waterfall it may become slippery during rainy season. After the crossing jungle u reach in village SAGACHIWADI. In rainy season the local people cultivating rice in their area so they don't allow to go from the crop also it little risky due having snake due to rainy season . It's safe to going from village. Now your actually trek start from the Base of the mountain. Not difficult but it's make u tired due to having incline. By following way u can reach at GARBETT PLATEAU. PLATEAU is having huge area about 800-900 meter so u can take rest at this place. Then again start u r trek. Form plateau to POINT the route is little inclined.. So u have to climb the point, and finally after climbing the hill u can reach at the top of the point. The point having railing so it's totally safe. After spend some time on the top u can start u r return journey from POINT to MTDC Resort, matheran where u can take bus or sharing car.. But bus is safe and cheap than the other traveling option Note- 1.be careful during rainy season while walking to avoid any snake bite 2 Also carry water with u to avoid...

Amazing experience 🀩🀩 Good for beginners to start as mostly in this trek require walking. We started this trek from bhivpuri station in the morning at 9 after having breakfast. Starting point for this trek is diksal gav which is walkable from station. After 20-25 mins walking we reached the amazing lake. That lake view is amazing and so refreshing. After enjoying lake view, we started our trek for Garbett Platue. There is mostly walking through scenic view and village. You will get stalls for snacks and tea inbetween. After 3 hours of walking we reached garbett point. Garbett platue is really so refreshing place to hangout for trekkers. We decided not to decend but to go up which has way out through matheran since it takes max 1 and half hour only. But this path is little bit difficult. But as you go up the view gets more enchanting. From matheran we got share cab for Neral station. This trek was really good experience for me and my friends and we hardly spend 200 rs each πŸ˜…πŸ˜…

One of the best and popular treks in the Matheran range. One has to get off at bhivpuri rd station to start this trek. Initially you have to walk by the perimeter of dhom lake which is about 1.5 km. Scenic walk and loads of streams and mini waterfalls to cross. From here you head to a village. This marks the end of the easy section. Now comes the moderate part of trek because of steepness. This section will take a good 1.5 hours to cross but is very exiting. The reward for this is the awsome Garbertt plateau with the awsome carpet of green grass. Now you walk almost 1km on the plateau for the last leg upto garbert point. Now this section has a rock patch which is a bit tricky in monsoon and a person has to take huge steps in order to cross. Be careful at this point. Last leg is a 1.5 km jungle walk till the main taxi stand from where youll get a cab till neral station. The trek is long but very enjoyable consudeing you don't have the descending part.

Garbett point is a very beautiful trekking place near to Matheran, the famous hill station which is aprox 1-2 hours from Mumbai. The view from Garbett point is so amazing. The view of Garbett plateau fully covered with green lush and the intermittently appearing fog all over the distant green montains are realy breathtaking. We will get at least 270 degree of valley view from this place.!! There is two trekking way you can choose. One is from Bhivpuri railway station and that trekking route will take at least 8 hours which cover Dhom lake, amazing Garbett plateau and Garbett point. And then you can head to Matheran and it will take again 2 hours. The second trekking route is starting from Matheran to Garbett point and back and it will take less time compared to other one. The best time to do this trekk is during mansoon. You should have rain coat, backpack rain cover and necessary rain precautions.!!
