Kokan Diva Fort & Caves — Attraction in Maharashtra

Nearly 3 hrs to reach the fort from SANDOSHI or SAVRAT villages (near Raigad fort) 5 to 7km from Pachad . Its full of forst surrounded. The forest covered with huge tree's and very low amount of light reaches the soil of forest so you don't feel much tired and hot while trekking. You will also get to see the natures beauty while climbing fort. We can watch various types of birds their chanting, old trees, flowers, reptiles and animals. The place was made to keep watch on enemies coming to attack raigad. There are 4 water tanks and a carved room in rock. Also there are holes made in the rocks which indicates the support for the wooden beam for camping during olden times. From fort you can easily see RAIGAD FORT. Its a fabulous place so see the Sahyadri mountains range. At the base of fort you will reach to the kavle-bavle khind which is the only way to reach the Raigad fort from GHOL and GARAJ villages. According to locals 10 men had stopped 3000 or more enemies which came via (PUNE from Ghol village) to attack RAIGAD FORT. They fought for nearly 1 month and protected...

Situated on the border of Pune district and Raigad district Konkan Diva fort served as a watch tower for Raigad and kavla sandoshi Ghat. The trek to Konkan Diva can be started from two different routes- from garjai Wadi or from Sandoshi via Kawla ghat. However route from Garjaiwadi near Ghol village is very safe and less time consuming. You can directly reach to Garjaiwadi, if you take your own but small car like vehicle. The road is under development, but fairly manageable in winter and summer. The villagers provide night stay and food at a reasonable cost. The total Trek distance from this route is around 5 km and it takes around one and half hours to reach top and 1 hour to descend down. On the way you come across a small Kalubai temple. The second half of the trek is bit steep but not difficult. There is a cave and a few rock-cut water cisterns on the fort just 5 min before the top. The summit part is small flat peak from where you can spot surrounding Sahyadri with mighty Raigad towards south, Lingana towards south-east and fort Torna...

Turn right from Panshet dam water sports towards Ghol village and Trek starts from Gajrewadi. Five to six hours max to and fro. Take a local guide for the trek as one can get lost in the jungle. Carry enough food and water. A night halt can be made in one of the caves above. There is also a water tank with clean water. कोकण दिवा रायगडाचा खंदा पहारेकरी .घाट आणि कोकण यांच्यावर लक्ष ठेवणारा कोकणदिवा...!!! पावसाळ्यात निसर्ग हिरवाईने बहरला की भटकंतीची ओढ लागते. आणि आता रिटायर असल्यामुळे वेळेचे, दिवसाचे वा सुट्टीचे, कसलेच बंधन नाही. याच महिन्यात आमच्या थरारक लेह लडाख बाईक राईड ला सात वर्ष पूर्ण झाले होते. मग ते मित्रांनी एकत्र भेटून साजरे करायचे ठरविले. निसर्गरम्य अशा कोकणदिवा येथे जायचे ठरविले. पानशेत धरण सोडल्यानंतर घोळ गावाकडे जाताना हिरवी शाल पांघरलेले डोंगर, वाहते झरे, धबधबे आणि सोबत गार वारे अशा सुंदर वातावरणात प्रवास सुरू होता. गारजेवाडी वरून कोकण दिव्याची वाट पकडली, बरोबर राहुलचा भाऊ दाउ आणि त्याची मुलगी आम्हाला वाट दाखवण्यासाठी आले होते. घनदाट जंगलात रस्ता सापडेना. मग मग दाउने आपल्या जवळील कोयत्याने रस्ता तयार करत आम्हाला पुढे नेले. डोंगर-दऱ्या, खळखळणारे झरे, घनदाट झाडी, धबधबे या साऱ्यांची साथ सोबत घेऊन निघालो. मध्येच एखादी पावसाची सर येऊन आम्हाला चिंब करत होती. जंगलात चालताना विविध पक्षांचे व ओढे नाल्यांचे आवाज मनाला सुखावत होते. सह्याद्रीतील रानमेवा जसे करवंद,जांभूळ व आळव यांचा आस्वाद घेत आम्ही पुढे जात होतो... आता करवंदाची काटेरी जाळी आम्हाला ओरबाडून आपले अस्तित्व दाखवत होती. पावसामुळे आणि खाली पडलेल्या पानांमुळे रस्ता खूपच निसरडा झालेला होता. अगदी 90 अंशात असलेली खडी चढण दमछाक करत होती. आता गडाचा शेवटचा टप्पा आ वासून समोर उभा होता .कातळाशी दोन हात करत तो चढावा लागला, त्यात पावसामुळे वाट निसरडी झाली होती. बाजूला चार हजार फूट खोल दरी मनात धडकी भरवत होती. ,पाय निसटला तर थेट कोकणात अशी अवघड चढाई करून आम्ही कोकण दिवा बालेकिल्ला गाठला आणि समोर अस्मानात दिमाखाने फडकणारा भगवा पाहुन नकळत आरोळी ठोकली ," शिवाजी महाराज कि जय "

कोकणदिव्याच्या टोकावर आले, की इतिहासाच्या आठवणीबरोबरच भोवतीचा निसर्ग बघून डोळ्याचे पारणे फिटले. पश्चिमेकडून निघालेले ढग एकेका गिरिशिखराला बिलगताना चे दृश्य विलोभनीय होते. समोर पसरलेले कोकण, या तळ कोकणातून वाहणारी काळ नदी दिसते, ऐन घाटमाथ्यावर हा किल्ला असल्याने भोवतीने गिरिशिखरांचा वेढा आहे , दूरवर आपला रायगडही दिसतो . सह्य़ाद्रीचे हे रूप डोळ्यात साठवत आम्ही कोकणदिव्याचा निरोप घेत परतीचा...
