An Unforgettable Cricketing Experience at MCA International Cricket Stadium, Gahunje!

My recent visit to the MCA International Cricket Stadium in Gahunje left me absolutely awe-inspired and thrilled beyond words. This stadium truly lives up to its reputation as one of the premier cricketing venues in the country, offering an exceptional experience for both players and spectators alike.

From the moment I entered the stadium premises, I was greeted by a well-organized and efficient staff who guided me through the entry process seamlessly. The stadium's state-of-the-art facilities, coupled with its breathtaking architecture, left me amazed. The attention to detail in maintaining the venue's cleanliness and overall upkeep was truly remarkable.

As a cricket enthusiast, I had the pleasure of witnessing a match that showcased the pinnacle of cricketing excellence. The stadium's expansive seating arrangement ensured a clear view of the action from any seat. The comfortable and well-maintained seating made the entire experience even more enjoyable, allowing me to immerse myself in the game completely.

The atmosphere within the stadium was electric, with passionate fans cheering on their favorite teams. The sound system was top-notch, ensuring that every announcement and commentary could be heard clearly. The ample food and beverage options available catered to a variety of tastes, with quick and efficient service, even during peak hours.

The MCA International Cricket Stadium's commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment was commendable. The well-trained security personnel and robust measures in place gave me peace of mind throughout my visit. Additionally, the stadium's accessibility for differently-abled individuals demonstrated its inclusivity and commitment to providing an enjoyable experience for all.

Beyond the matches, the stadium also hosts various events and exhibitions, showcasing its versatility as a multi-purpose venue. Whether it's cricket, concerts, or other sporting events, the MCA International Cricket Stadium is equipped to handle them all with utmost professionalism and excellence.

The MCA International Cricket Stadium, Gahunje, also boasts excellent amenities that enhance the overall experience. The well-maintained restroom facilities were clean and easily accessible, ensuring convenience for everyone in attendance. The ample parking space available made it hassle-free to arrive and depart from the stadium, without any concerns about finding a spot.

Furthermore, the stadium's location is strategic, offering easy access from major roads and transportation hubs. Whether you're a local resident or a visitor from afar, reaching the stadium is a breeze, making it a convenient destination for cricket enthusiasts from all over.

One aspect that truly stood out during my visit was the commitment of the stadium management to provide a family-friendly environment. The presence of designated family zones and child-friendly areas ensured that everyone, regardless of age, could enjoy the match in a comfortable and secure setting. This attention to detail highlights the stadium's dedication to creating a wholesome and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Lastly, I must commend the stadium's staff for their professionalism and dedication. From the ticketing counters to the ushers and the customer service team, everyone I encountered was friendly, approachable, and eager to assist. Their passion for cricket and commitment to ensuring a memorable experience for visitors was evident throughout my time at the stadium.

Gahunje Stadium deserves a resounding five-star rating. It combines world-class infrastructure, a vibrant atmosphere, and exceptional service to deliver an unparalleled cricketing experience. Whether you're a die-hard cricket fan or simply looking for a fantastic outing with friends and family, this stadium is a must-visit destination. Where international-esque inconvenience awaits patrons

First things first, this stadium is not located in Pune (Pune is the closest city from/to the stadium). To associate the word 'international' with this 37000-odd capacity stadium is awful given what amenities it offers to the patrons (as one will find out ahead in the review). To quote that the stadium is c 4 miles from Dehu Road Rly Stn may not be very sensible given the unreliable public transport. Bus schedule exists (the bus stop is 3/4th and 1/2 mile away from the entrance and rly stn respectively), but take the timings&frequency with a grain of salt. No discouragement intended but if you are dependent on public transport to come here (and especially from a different city), nolens volens, you may want to give the visit a reconsideration, unless you are a cricket fiend ofcourse.

The ordeals don't end there. The 1/2 mile stretch leading from/to the stadium from the highway is a rough, mud patch which is unlevelled and has several potholes. Adding to the misery, there are no footpaths as such, and the road width is small too, enough for one car to pass in one direction. There is only one entry gate in the entire stadium for the vox populi (there is one more but only for VIP members), which is at the south end. Due to the same, the check-in takes plenty of time. So, just one way to reach your stand irrespective of how far it is from the entrance. So say, for the north stand, expect to walk for at least 1/2 mile from the entrance.

Coming to the stadium amenities now. There are only 4, 30-odd capacity AC zones in the entire stadium. The north side stand doesn't have any roof, so expect the scorching sun to slap you with its heat waves during ODIs and Tests. To avoid this, one may prefer the south stand (but seats are expensive there for the same position). The stands horizontal of the pitch are partly covered by some temporary structures, such that the rows at the end could get some shadows. The seats in North Stand ( where I had booked my ticket for ) were so lightly numbered such that it was really difficult to read them. The foldable seats mean that they don't flatten when opened and lean towards the back. Unsurprisingly, legroom is less too.

Nah, it doesn't end over here either. The lavatory has only about 10-12 urinal bowls, and whilst quoting this fact may not be taken well by certain readers despite being factual, the thing I want to imply here is for the whole big block, there is just one lavatory (which is located at the right side of the entrance of the stand). Let me remind you again, this is an 'International' stadium, where rightfully so it won't be an exaggeration to say that the word 'international' implies 'local' when seen from the perspective of the spectators.

I did not see any banner boxes in the whole stand. There was just one medical stall for first-aid services, and at such a place that it wouldn't be very visible easily. Merchandise shops weren't available.

Punekars, and other well-wishers I am sorry (despite being brutally correct), I wish the flaws could stop at least by now and the same would help me turn towards the positives (wait, what positives, were there really any!) Anyways. Some part of the wall was simply incomplete whilst some sharp flat metal legs of temporary railings were such that they may find someone's toes on them, and that wouldn't be great thing (as can be seen in the uploaded pictures). It's disgraceful as to how such aspects haven't been checked or planned before holding events which are expected to bring myriads of fans (if not being houseful).

Nosh like pizza, soft beverages, and gedunk like popcorn are available, all at inflated prices starting from Rs 50. The hygiene standards, if you are expecting it to be any more than mediocre, then I am afraid, you are being overly optimistic. By the half time, parts of the entrance near the food stalls were filled with watery spots, and whilst janitors could be seen at work, they were clearly understaffed.

N.B. This review is not exhaustive given...

We happen to visit this beautiful stadium for the Australia versus Bangladesh world cup match. Once you are inside the stadium 🏟️. You can see the richness of the surrounding landscape which is a totally different experience compared to watching online, the place is quite scenic and exhibits mesmerizing evening views on display. Obviously it is not the actual stadium however the experience of reaching the ground and the whole experience of in spite of spending on tickets what you get is haphazard parking management. Long walk to the stadium, plastic bottles littering on mud roads and at the gates. Yes, you are not allowed to carry bottles instead, they have arrangements inside though. From the perspective of the foreigners, you will feel pity from them since the infrastructure around the place feels under developed. Poor fellows were carrying their luggage on mud roads dodging unruly crowds and less street lights absolutely night marish for them. All this kills your vibe unless you are a VIP. Inside the washroom are decent, food is expensive 🫰. There were city bus arrangements to drop people to city limits, yes it is outside pune city around the end of the expressway if you are reaching from Mumbai and towards the start of the expressway if you are heading towards Mumbai. We approach the back lane when you go towards the old Mumbai highway however there are multiple entry points. Once inside you cannot go outside the gate. Tip, don't buy the first seats at four row lane.. security will ask you to sit elsewhere and the view is hindered due to many ground obstacles including the photographers with huge tent umbrellas. We were at the south stand. The best view is ground row 15 or 16 from the ground. Of course all this is variable based on which stand you have purchased...
