This is a complete 1 day plan you can start from Tapola-To- Pratap gad to Shivkalin Khedegaon to Mahabaleshwar and back to Tapola again. We visited this place in summer. Will just tell how it can be explore. Its a Nice place to visit and yes its idea and concept behind its development is from Pune based sculpture and for todays generation to know and understand our culture . Instead of only visiting Mahabaleshwar we can visit Tapola which is near Mahabaleshwar . almost 30km by road. At Tapola you can stay and have rest there are many places to stay very natural place to stay. Hotel Krishna garden is one of then where you will get Internet . From Tapola in the morning you can start to reach to Fort Pratapgad by car you can reach in 2 Hr. (Around 37 KM) . Road is fine but its a Ghat road so drive carefully but its really amazing experience reaching there. If your are visiting the fort first time please do a Guide who will give you all the information within an hour and the critical places and their significance. He will take Rs. 300 but yes please make sure that he is having proper ID card . Generally they belongs to the third or fifth generations of the people living on fort from the era of Shivaji Maharaj. Please do not forget to eat Butter Milk and Kanda Bhji on fort. Its test very thrilling when you complete your fort tour and you will find yourself really hungry and thirsty. While returning from the fort towards tapola you will find this Nice place calld ad Shivkalin Khedgaon . Actually its sales counter point from the same concept is also available on the Fort you can visit it and can do shopping with reasonable prize. Actually Khedgaon you will find it around 30 km from the fort. The statue here are made up of fiber but you find it that they are made from clay very realistic. You can take Photograph . We had feeling that yes we reached the village . Also there is a place where you can take your photograph in the shivkalin attire. But not like the other places . There are two statue of a mavla and his women having the posture of welcoming guest but they dont have face. We have stand in that empty statue and put your face in the place provided . And yes it was an amazing experience . We can not forget it . Without wearing any cloths and doing any makeup like we take photographs in Kashmir or other places . Then while returning to Tapola you can visit Mahabaleshwar market do shopping eating and can back to Tapola . Fantastic 1 day trip...

Shivkalin Khedegaon is a village as it would have been 300 years ago. At the entrance, you can see a map of battlefield of Pratapgad, and moments from various significant battles. An embossed painting of 'Shivarajyabhishek' is exquisite!
As this short walk takes you back in the history, you enter the village, adorned with life size statues of mavalas, commeners, birds and domestic animals.
As you wander through the village, statues of some of the twelve balutedar, the spirit of the barter system, can be seen. Busy with their daily tasks, surrounded by all their gears, they represent simple lifestyle of the era.
The paved path further takes you to the central part of the village where a temple, a well full of water, and an impressive Wada (in which family of Patil or Kulkarni of the Village would stay) is built. Outside the Wada is a majestic horse! Kids can have a blast clicking pictures riding this awesome creature! Inside the Wada are different rooms. A small kitchen is equipped with real life utensils of brass, copper, iron etc.
Usual hustle bustle of a village is beautifully captured. Entire place is spotless clean. As you stroll leisurely through this quiet village, surrounded by chirping birds, you'll discover plenty of opportunities for interesting photos.
If you have any queries or questions, about an artifact, the volunteers guide you. However, it would be even more enriching if information cards or plaques were strategically placed around the village, providing context and insights into the various exhibits and structures.
Overall a unique experience and opportunity to learn our history. A must visit place, especially...
