As always mesmerising view of seen set and spell bound by the feeling. B was there in a summer camp with kids and boys reaching there from our hotel Ashok was easy. Still it was good 15 to 20 mins walk. Road is dusty uneven and it's usual in Matheran. Just a piece of advice, keep big handkerchief or nose and mouth mask with you. B it will protect you against dust. Horse people run amoke in speed and if you don't pay attention you may get your self injured.

You get stuff to eat there and drink also. Tea coffee cold drinks ice creams . You get Maggie masala corn etc also. I did not eat anything as I was not hungry but usually these are tasty. Monkeys are there all over Matheran and this point is not left either.

One important thing, don't wait till it is absolute sunset. Start your return little early specially if you are walking. Reason :? The horses. Suddenly there will be flood of horses for returning and horse man are as usual rackless, plus there is night time. Although there are street lights at regular intervals but in between is missing also and it may so happen that ligi are out. Precautions are better. Always keep a powerful tourch with you.

I may sound like I'm frightening you so just relax and enjoy nature at its best.

I enjoyed it allot and so did the kids and boys...

Matheran's Sunset Point, also known as Porcupine Point, is almost 2 km away (25 minutes’ walk) from the marketplace. To reach this vantage point, you walk through the woods, admiring greenery and antique cottages. Individuals see countless sunsets during their lifetime, but every time they are left in a different state of mind and heart. The view offered by Matheran's sunset is so striking that you'll fall in love with it for eternity at the very first glance. When the sun goes down behind the mountains, they glow. It looks like god has painted the sky in a perfect blend of blue, white, yellow, red and brown colours. Sit silently and gaze at that mesmerising painting. It works as a healer as you feel the peace and dive deep in this pure beauty of nature. They say that sunrise and sunset are the biggest clichés in photography, but still we clicked some of the best pictures here. Be a little careful because some edges are little scary. Make sure to come back to your hotel before it gets too dark unless you want a thrilling experience! We did this mistake and not to mention that we were scared to death because there are very few lights in the woods and it's really tough to figure out your way as everything looks similar. It would be wise to carry a...

At a distance of 2 km from Matheran Railway Station, Porcupine Point, also known as Sunset Point, is an attractive viewpoint and also one of the best places to visit in Matheran. The name Porcupine Point is originated from the bird Porcupine as the shape of the place is identical to the shape of the Porcupine bird. This spot offers the ideal view of sunset and also gives the majestic view of distant Prabalgad fort. Additional attraction of the Porcupine Point is the famous Cathedral Rocks positioned to the west of the Sunset Point. The location is blessed with scenic surroundings and dense forests. The calm and cool atmosphere mesmerizes the travelers. This place is mostly visited in the evening hours to watch the sunset. The place can be accessed by walk or horse, but walking is the preferred mode of reaching this place. It can also be accessed from Dhodani village and this trail offers wonderful views. The duration of the trek is about one hour (one way) from Matheran.
