This is the place of shiv and maa narmada Mandla┬аis a town with┬аmunicipality┬аin┬аMandla district┬аin the┬аIndian┬аstate┬аof┬аMadhya Pradesh. It is the administrative headquarters of Mandla District. The town is picturesquely situated in a loop of the┬аNarmada River, which surrounds it on three sides, and for 15 miles between Mandla and┬аRamnagar┬аthe river flows in a deep bed unbroken by rocks. The Narmada is worshiped here, and many beautiful┬аghats┬аhave been constructed on the banks of the river. It was a capital of the┬аGondwana dynasty who built a palace and a fort, which in the absence of proper care have gone to ruins.

Garha Fort in Killa Ghat

Writers such as┬аAlexander Cunningham,[1]┬аJohn Faithfull Fleet[2]and Moti Raven Kangali, Girija Shankar Agrawal[3]┬аidentify Mandla as the location of ancient┬аMahishmati.

Gondwana queen, Rani Durgawati shah Maravi ruled Mandla province and fought against Akbar her valiant effort to save her kingdom is still subject of folklore. Rani Avanti bai of Ramnagar later fought with British to save her kingdom from annexation.

The┬аGondwana dynasty of┬аGarha-Mandla┬аcommenced, according to an inscription in the palace of┬аRamnagar, in the fifth century, with the accession of Jadho Rai, an adventurer who entered the service of an old Gond king, married his daughter, and succeeded him to the throne.┬аAlexander Cunningham┬аplaced the date two centuries later in 664 . The Garha-Mandla kingdom was a petty local chiefship until the accession of Raje Sangram Shah Madawi, the forty-seventh king, in 1480. This prince extended his dominions over the Narmada Valley, and possibly┬аBhopal,┬аSagar, and┬аDamoh┬аand most of the Satpura hill country, and left fifty-two forts or districts to his son. In addition to Mandla,┬аJabalpur┬аand┬аGarha┬аin┬аJabalpur District┬аand Ramnagar in Mandla District served at times as capitals of the kingdom.[4]

The control of the Garha-Mandla kings over their extended principality was, however, short-lived, for in 1564 Asaf Khan, the┬аMughal┬аviceroy, invaded their territories. The queen Durgavati, then acting as regent for her infant son, met him near┬аSingorgarh fort┬аin┬аDamoh District; but being defeated, she retired past Garha towards Mandla, and took up a strong position in a narrow┬аdefile. Here, mounted on an elephant, she bravely headed her troops in defense of the pass, and notwithstanding that she had received an arrow-wound in her eye refused to retire. But by an extraordinary coincidence the river in the rear of her position, which had been nearly dry a few hours before the action commenced, began suddenly to rise and soon became unfordable Finding her plan of retreat thus frustrated, and seeing her troops give way, the queen snatched a dagger from her elephant-driver and plunged it into her breast. Asaf Khan acquired immense booty, including, it is said, more than a thousand...

In this ever-modernizing world, sometimes it is hard to keep a calm and clear head to face with many problems arising everyday. The fast pace of city life usually tires me to hell by snowing me under a lot of pressure. Whenever feel tired, there is one place I would love to go to, the place where time seems to stand still and I can release all of my stress, letting the wind blow it away. This is nothing but a riverbank which is called RAPTA GHAT. It gives me so much different kinds of feelings, which I cannot feel on my daily life. It gives me warmth, relaxation, depression, joy, and etc. What causes me to feel these different types of feelings? It is because of the pleasant and beautiful surrounding of the ghat. It is very quite, so it sets the mood that I want to think about anything, like about my life. Tired of the day's job, maybe full of stress and draining, thinking of somewhere better and interesting then you are in the right place. A little walk around can do you a lot of favor with the cool breeze and calmness of the weather around this serene place. Depending on the time of the day, the river is a good place to take your bath. You need not care about how clean the water is as the water naturally flows and unclean once are automatically replaced. Sometimes, if I have lots of things to think about I stay there until the sunsets and the night comes. When it is night and it is dark, there is thousands and millions of stars in the sky. They gives us...

Very nice natural place, less crowded, mostly clean , peaceful. The solitude after sunset is as impressive as that of the Ghats of Rishikesh. There are 2 bridges on Narmada connecting Mandla and Maharajpur of approx. 800m. The 500m long water fall is very rare to see outside Mandla. The Black rocks are good spots for photography.

Such a serene, quiet, and religious place full of positive vibes. Come, sit ,worship maa narmada and other deities and listen to melodious bhajans . It's just that people need to be very careful for not making Ma NARMADA dirty !! Water level decreases in Summer but still the the place is full of positive energyтЭдя╕ПтЭдя╕П
