Garden of Caves is located in Cherrapunji in a place called Sohra. The goverment should be credited for developing this spot into a gorgeous exhibition all the natural marvels that Meghalaya has on offer.This place was officially inaugurated in 2010 as a tourist destination

There are a total of ELEVEN spots each bearing a traditional name. The spots range from waterfalls to jet streams to hanging rocks.  Except for Double Decker Living Root Bridge you will find everything under one roof. A heart shaped relief and foetus shaped etch add to the myth effect.

The Garden is hidden in a remote corner of Cherrapunji and is generally overlooked by many tourists which consider it as just another water body. However, the Garden is aesthetically assembled with ample diversity. It is a photographers delight allowing one to get up, close and personal with nature's bounty. At 100 rupees per head it is a strongly recommended must visit place.

There are no food available inside and it is a circuit of approx.. 4km or more. Takes approx., 3 hours for a leisurely walk. needs moderate fitness as you need to climb through caves and rocks in some places

I visited with my family & friends in June,  as we had done D D L R BRIDGE Trek the earlier day which was demanding & tiring , we enjoyed thoughrly & leisurely . A delightful place must say. Garden of Caves is an elegant tourist destination that is loaded with natural beauty and tranquillity and will definitely give you a feeling of reaching a wonderland.

Parking : Avilable in open Tickets : The entry fee per adult person is Rs.20. You need to pay an additional 20 rupees for your mobile camera and something between Rs 50-100 in case you are travelling with a DSLR camera. However, it is worth paying this minimal amount when you are provided with the opportunity to capture some sparkling moments in the breathtaking beauty of this place for cherishing them as a souvenir forever! Best Time to Visit : Rainy Season is what I feel. Do I recommend 100% as I feel it's 11 Spots bundled in ONE.

How to reach By AIR: The nearest airport is at Shillong which is 52 km away from the Garden of Caves. However, the airport has flights only to and from Kolkata and the Umrai airport often delays its flights due to bad weather conditions. Therefore, Guwahati Airport is the most functional and second nearest one which is well-connected with all the major cities of the country.

By RAIL

The nearest railway station from here is in Guwahati which is around 180 km and is well-connected with all the vital and nearby cities. Either opt for the state bus services for travelling till Shillong or you can also hire taxi service and visit the Garden of Caves...
