This caves is awesome it's the third longest caves in Indian Subcontinent. It's 5 KM from Siju bazaar. It's the place famous for bats habitat as well. Winter small streams flows clear water inside . Eel and other variety of fish is available. The caves has one entrance but many sub-entrance and many ways , you need a guide else you may be lost forever inside , never go inside without proper torch and water proof shoes or any shoes for water. Be careful inside as some parts are slippery and some deep waters. It's just insane inside, on reaching the entrance ahead you will first find lots lots of bats 🦇 on the ceiling of the caves. After the entrance it's totally peach dark, that's why bring proper torch and listen to the guide. Nearby the caves you can hang around near the beautiful sandy river and fun for fishing. There's a bridge connecting to another places nearby. Come and experience first hand by yourself. November, December & January is the best time...

Siju is my village which is in South Garo Hills, Meghalaya and it is famous for rich biodiversity, Dobakol or the bat cave where thousands of bat residing inside the cave and also have many chamber and it is said to be one of the largest cave in India. It is also famous for the Bird Sanctuary and the scenery views of Mighty simsang river is so amazing and wonderful. During my childhood when I woke up early in the morning from my bed and go outside to feel the fresh air and then I used hear a noise of a monkey in the forest at around 4:00 am to 5:00am which is quite amazing . Some local people used to go for fishing at around 4:00am. It was quite an amazing experience during my childhood.

The third longest cave system in India, located near Naphak Lane and Simsang River, Siju Cave is an ideal spot for history buffs and is a must-visit a site in Meghalaya. It boasts of some of the finest river passages in the world. Also popularly known as ‘Bat Cave’ this cave has magnificent limestone rock formations that leave spectators awestruck, and it is, of course, home to many different species of bats. The cave is dark since the sunlight does not reach inside it. Princess Di’s Chamber is another reason why you cannot skip this place on your trip to Meghalaya. The uniqueness of the cave makes it a popular spot among photographers too.

Another one of nature's great wonders! This cave is so huge and lengthy. As per the locals, nobody was able to reach the other end of the caves! The farthest they could reach is around 5 kms. It gets darker when we go inside and hence a torch is mandatory. A stream is flowing through the caves and sometimes we will have to walk through the stream. We can hear the sounds of bats as we go inside. I don't suggest this place to someone who is afraid of darkness or is claustrophobic. One can see limestones and fossils embedded in rocks. There are some places where we can crawl and go. Overall, it was a great experience!.
