As I ventured into the lush hills of Kerala, the revered Kaalimala Durga Devi Temple beckoned me to explore its sacred precincts. Nestled amidst dense foliage, this ancient temple dedicated to Goddess Durga seemed to emanate an aura of mystique and spirituality. The winding paths leading up to the temple were lined with vibrant flora, their sweet fragrance wafting through the air, preparing my senses for the divine encounter. Upon entering the temple, I was struck by the intricate carvings and vibrant murals adorning the walls, depicting the goddess's valiant exploits. The sanctum sanctorum radiated an otherworldly energy, as if the goddess's presence permeated every molecule of air. The gentle chanting of mantras and soft tinkling of bells created a soothing melody, transporting me to a realm of deep contemplation. As I circumambulated the temple, the imposing idol of Goddess Durga majestically situated atop a hillock, seemed to watch over the surrounding landscape, protecting and blessing the devotees. The panoramic view from the top revealed rolling hills, verdant valleys, and distant waterfalls, creating a breathtaking tapestry of natural beauty. Legend has it that Kaalimala Durga Devi Temple was built to commemorate the goddess's triumph over the demon Mahishasura. As I immersed myself in the temple's sacred atmosphere, I felt the weight of history and mythology. The temple's unique rituals and customs, passed down through generations, seemed to weave a rich cultural fabric. Interacting with the locals, I discovered the deep reverence they held for the goddess, who embodied feminine power and resilience. Their stories of divine interventions and miraculous healings underscored the temple's significance as a beacon of hope. As I participated in the evening puja, the flickering lamps and sacred offerings created an enchanting ambiance. Kaalimala Durga Devi Temple gifted me an unforgettable travel experience, weaving together spirituality, natural beauty, and cultural richness. Departing from this sacred haven, I felt invigorated, carrying with me the blessings of the goddess and memories of an enchanting journey. The temple's tranquil energy lingered within me, reminding me of the transformative power of faith and the importance of preserving our cultural heritage. Kaalimala Durga Devi Temple had awakened something profound within me – a connection to the divine, to nature, and to the resilient spirit of the people. As I descended the hills, twilight casting its golden hue, I knew this travel experience would remain etched in my heart, guiding me back to the sacred precincts of Kaalimala Durga Devi Temple, where the goddess's eternal presence awaited.... 1) If you want a great natural view you must visit this place 2) kaalimala is situated near kurishumala and koonichi hills 3)you'll get a beautiful view from the top 4) sometimes you'll get misty climate from there 5) there's a temple there 6) you have to walk soem distance to reach at the top 7)kaalimala and all these hills are situated close to each other 8) there is a shop near kaaliamla devi temple 9) enjoy the beauty of nature that's all✨

The place is suitable for people looking for moderate one day trek which does not require any permissions/passes but is recommended to visit during off seasons to enjoy the mist and fog.The trek span is about 2 hours to reach the top from the base station at a height of about 3000ft above sea level. From the top we could get a beautiful view of the Chittar Lake which can be reached by less than 10 km travel through road. Kaalimala situated at an altitude of 3000 ft from the sea level. Kaalimala and Kurishumala shares the same mountain while former is positioned more towards the eastern part of it. It is located at about 40 km from Thiruvananthapuram city in Pathukani near Amboori village. There is a temple sitatued at the top of the mountain dedicated to god Durga. A narrow path about 6 km connects the temple with the foot of the mountain in which two KM's are off road. Kalimala has Kaali Theertham situated near to a place where Saga Agasthya is said to have done his holy Thapas. The Kaali Theertham which never gets dried up is considered sacred, on par with Ganges. As far as eyes can see, there is a cloud of cool mist, deliriously and rhythmically wandering about like someone in love; it wraps you up in its hazy happiness. There are huge trees standing tall, extending their roots from one hilltop to another; some of them are from a bygone era, sending silent prayers to the blue sky above. A unique aura of antiquity surrounds you in this arresting locale of Kalimala, located in Vellarada, near Thiruvananthapuram. Kalimala offers you the perfect time-off from the business of city life; it is much farther from life as we know it- both literally and metaphorically. In Kalimala, you can shut out the honking of vehicles and perk up your ears to the friendly sounds of the forest dwellers. Here, you can forget the unsustainable air-conditioners and soak yourself in the naturally cool environs of the hills. And those that want to go trekking 3000 miles above sea level and feel the energy surging into their bodies- Kalimala is just the place for that, too. There isn’t just one reason to come to this gorgeous place, and there are even chances of you discovering your reason once you are here.
