Brilliant black and white movie that gets you right inside the cells, inside the prisoner's perspective, right inside the action with extremely well done use of point of view shots. You can almost feel the unbearable heat and the sounds of flies and mosquitoes give you the hideous feeling of being trapped inside this man made hell yourself. Sidney Lumet's direction is excellent. The ensemble cast are all on point, bringing in beautifully pitched performances. I feel now like I've visited this hideous hell for myself in some way. The things men do to one another for power and prestige in this god forsaken sadistic place is too real. Makes me sad thinking about so many soldiers having to have endured such insane figures in authority and the madness of it all. No wonder so many come out of service permanently damaged mentally. I had to keep lowering the volume with all the shouting it was too much just watching. Having said all that it certainly is a must watch film, if for no other reason than to see how twisted military organizations can get and to stay clear of them. Not to say this doesn't happen in other regimented situations too. Funny to think Sean Connery was a huge Bond star by this point having already...
Read moreGood place to visit and relax. Very lonely place. IITB students used to go there for visiting the good nature. On the way you need to pass through a little forest area. The walk to Sameer hills will give a small trekking feel. From the Sameer hills you can see both Vihar and Powai lakes. Its better to visit early morning because sun will be intense in the day time. Not suggesting to go there before 6A.M and after 6P.M since there in the forest leopards are present. When you go to there try to not go alone. There is a chance for encounter with leopards. So go with 3 or more people. There is a shrine near to the peak of the Sameer hills that outside the...
Read moreJust went for a trek few days back and it was marvelous view from top. Mind it, that trek road does not exactly show on map. The one it shows is very slippery. So we took inside path near pipes and went up from there. I fell once but it was okay. View was awesome, one side you see in lakes and iitb and good buildings.। Other side is slum and smaller building. Harsh reality. Just from one place can be differentiated. I will suggest go on a dry day to avoid slippery roads and...
