This is a good place to hangout for everyone. BUT I am giving only two stars for a reason, and anyone can understand why if they read this entire comment. I am aware that NEZCC is an important cultural center for the Northeast Indian states. I have seen many events take place here.
However, unfortunately, many peopleāincluding those living in Dimapurāare not even aware that this is also a tourist attraction. Many years ago, there used to be numerous cultural events celebrating Northeast India here. I remember that in the 1990s, I was part of a performing group! āŗļø But it feels like decades since we last heard of such events happening.
Despite having large buildings and halls, they remain underutilized. This is truly disheartening, and it raises many questions about the functioning of NEZCC. Years ago, when the Director was a local person, NEZCC was more well-known. But now, we donāt even know who the current Director is or when they come and go.
Why is there not a single event or program that people in Dimapur can hear about and attend? š” This place has vast infrastructure and facilities, yet it lies dormant. The situation is serious, and I believe the Ministry of Culture in New Delhi must take corrective action.
We would love to see NEZCC become a vibrant place for both young and oldāa place where people can experience the rich cultural diversity of Northeast India without having to travel across the Sister States.
Today, after attending a wedding reception here, I was reminded that such a place exists! I wonder if Nagalandās civil societies and the State Government can push for its revivalāshake things up and ensure that the current Director takes action. We can make it happen, right? I truly believe so.
With a heavy heart and a disturbed mind, I am sharing this so that more people become aware of NEZCCās current state. God willing, may we soon witness a revived and active NEZCC. And when an event is finally organized here, I will be praying that I can be there to...
