Ramchandi Beach Odisha Ramchandi is reckoned to be one of the most beautiful beaches in Odisha as well as in India. Situated on the junction of the River Kusabhadra and the Bay of Bengal, the beach got its name from Goddess Ramchandi, the presiding deity of the Konark region who is also reckoned to be the consort of Sun God. It is situated on the Marine Drive, which is 7 km away from Konark. No doubt that thousands of worshippers of the deity visit the place every year in hope of fulfilling their wishes. The beach is considered to be one of Indias finest beaches. Irrespective of the faith, one can witness the most incredible sunrise and sunsets on this pristine beach.

As it is isolated and spotless that makes it one of the most picturesque beaches of Odisha. It is safe to call this seaside the most placid destination for just lying down on the immaculate camel-coloured sand and gaze far into the sky. Visiting Ramchandi beach offers a lot of things to experience on the beach itself. From reviving oneself to bring back the consciousness and peace and forgetting the chaotic city mindset for a few minutes to experiencing the nature at its best.

Ramachandi Temple is a sacred Hindu shrine, located only about 5 km away from Konark in the Puri district of Odisha. Goddess Chandi is the presiding deity, worshiped at the temple. The shrine is one of the most famous Shakti Pithas of Odisha. Natural calamities over time have destroyed a major portion of it, yet owing to its sanctity, it still receives a large number of devotees every year.

History of Ramachandi Temple Puri According to a folklore, in 17th century, a rebellious Hindu Brahmin named Kalapahad converted to Islam and vowed to demolish all the Hindu temples. In his quest to do so, he tried to destroy the Ramachandi Temple, situated on the backside of the Sun Temple. He was successful in damaging the Sun Temple to a large extent but was unable to destroy the Ramachandi Temple.

However, on the same night, Goddess Ramachandi appeared in the dream of one of her dedicated devotees and ordered him to build another temple of her near the bank of the Kusabhadra River. As per local beliefs, this is the temple that was built by that devotee.

Goddess Ramachandi is an incarnation of Goddess Durga, and therefore, festivals like Durga Puja, Dussehra and Kali Puja are celebrated in the temple every year. Another festival known as Sola Puja is also observed at the shrine for 16 days during the Durga Puja.

Architecture of Ramachandi Temple Puri Ramachandi Temple is built as per the traditional Odisha style of architecture. It is a north facing temple consisting of two parts - one being Vimana and the other being Jagamohana. In front of the Jagamohana, there is an open roof Mandapa. The shrine is made up of bricks, sandstone and laterite. Inside the sanctum, the idol of Goddess Chandi can be seen in a sitting posture over a lotus flower, which is half covered by...
