Beautiful Salia Dam, alia Dam is exactly locating just down hill of the VALLERI Mountain which is one of the part of Eastern ghat mountain range. This is an Irrigation Dam Project of Odisha government, which one fed/ irrigating to the Ganjam and Khurda district of Coastal odisha. About 19 km distant from World famous chilika lake towards western side when you following the eastern belt Canal line up on the semi developed tar road which finally merges with Chilika lake. And A moderate village metal road also runs about 15 kms from Banpur town under the Khurda Irrigation Division of water resources department, government of Odisha. Picnickers are attracted towards its natural scenic beauty. It is a spot of nature. At a distance about 14 kms to the west of the Banapur the Salia Dam has been constructed amidst a picturesque site. Here one can enjoy the beauty of the nature. The total length of the river is about 30 miles. The dam has been constructed in the catchment area which is about 69,000 acres connecting two hills on both sides and serves as a minor irrigation project. Just on the north-eastern side of the Khallikote forest division and about another 10Km away from the Banapur or 14KM from the Balugaon Town from NH-16/ AH-45 in Khurda District. A beautiful dam, especially constructed for Minor irrigation. A beautiful day out picnic spot with country made boating facility. To enhancing this another addition is also there as Maa chandi temple, Few photos are including on my review please...

It is a very scenic and good picnic spot. Around 15 kms from Banapur and about 25 kms from Balugaon. The 10 kms road just before this beautiful place was in worst condition and we could not understand why government is not minding in making a all weather road to such a nice tourist destination. It was a feast to our eyes and appeared as if we were passing through a patch of Uttarakhand forest area. The dense, green forest for about 10/12 kms in both the sides of the road makes one spellbound. It is a big water reservoir and very helpful for irrigation. Now they have locked the entry to the front side road that overlooking the dam due to unknown reasons. Some concrete pandals (pindis) have been built at the side under the dense shade of the trees for the picknickers but most of them have been half broken due to lack of proper supervision. Hope, if given proper attention by the government this could be one of the best Boating and scenic...

This project was commenced in the year 1972. It is an Earthdam built upon the river Salia. It has a length of 423.67 metre and a height of 32.91 metre. The dam is built nearby the Barbara Reserve Forest, the largest Teak and Sal Forest in Asia. The atmosphere here is extremely silent and one can enjoy the scenic beauty of the Forest nearby its bank. This is a prime spot for eco tourism. Though there's no huge tourist footfall to this place, but this place is one of the best destinations for eco tourism. The best time to visit this place is between November to February, in the afternoon. The Dam is around 17km from Banapur by road. Balugaon is the nearest railway station. To reach out to this place easily, an all - weather road is being currently constructed. Autorickshaws and Cabs are available from Balugaon on a...

Area is too beautiful and surrounded with greenery and hills. Dam's gate is closed but there is way to go to the place to see the beauty of this place. I can't describe the beauty of this area as nature is the most destructive player in the world. Before visiting this place, please do remember some points: 1. Banapur to Salia dam is approximately 14kms. 2. Road isn't too good however work is in the progress. 3. Road is very much empty so little care about your existence. 4. As per the words of few people this place isn't too Safe. So go with your family and friends. Maybe you can go in daylights. 5. Only one shop is there, so buy some foods outside to come here. 6. Don't carry too much cash. Overall this is a beautiful place, so Local government needs to take care of this place to offer a safe place to the tourists.
