Satkosia Gorge Sanctuary — Attraction in Odisha

I had the opportunity to visit the Satakosia gorge through the Satakosia tiger reserve . It is one of the few breeding sites of Indian skimmer birds . This endengered bird species is present in only 1200 nos in this area. Apart from these, Gharials and Magars can be seen in this area with groups of turtles just possing to be photographed. The forest department provides boating facility through a limited area of this 14 miles long gorge on the river Mahanadi. 8, 12, and 20 seater boats are available for tourists with life jackets, and the boat driver acts as the guide. The views are just mesmerizing, and the cool breeze of the river is soothing . There is a park, children play area, and adventure zone near the entry of the boating facility. Many turtles, Magars and Gharials, are kept in captivity. A battery-operated vehicle is available from the parking site to the boating facility.
