During my recent trip to Puri, I had the privilege of visiting the Omkareshwar Temple—a serene, spiritually uplifting place that left a deep and lasting impression on me. While the Jagannath Temple often dominates the spiritual landscape of Puri, Omkareshwar Temple is an understated treasure that offers a quieter, more intimate encounter with the divine.
Tucked away from the bustling crowds and commercial distractions, Omkareshwar Temple provides an atmosphere of peace and sanctity. The moment I entered the premises, I felt a wave of calmness and positive energy wash over me. Surrounded by gentle chants and the faint aroma of incense, the environment encourages reflection and spiritual grounding. The temple isn’t large or ostentatious, but it radiates a powerful spiritual presence that devotees can feel instantly.
Dedicated to Lord Shiva in his Omkareshwar form, the temple holds a sacred and somewhat mysterious aura. The Shiva Linga is beautifully maintained, and the sanctum is a space where you can genuinely connect in silence and prayer without the rush and noise found in more frequented temples. I found this especially meaningful—it gave me time to sit, meditate, and feel the divine presence without any sense of being hurried.
The priests and temple caretakers were extremely kind and respectful. They welcomed us warmly, explained the history and significance of the temple, and guided us through a brief but powerful puja. Their humility and devotion added a great deal to the overall experience, reminding me of the core values of Indian spirituality—simplicity, surrender, and service.
Another standout feature of the temple is its cleanliness and upkeep. Despite being less commercialized, the temple premises are tidy and well-managed, reflecting the care and respect the local community has for this sacred site. The surrounding trees and quietude further enhance the peaceful vibe, making it an ideal place not just for religious rituals, but also for those seeking a meditative or spiritual retreat.
Visiting Omkareshwar Temple was not just a stop on my itinerary—it became a highlight of my trip. In a town famous for the grandeur of Lord Jagannath, this humble abode of Lord Shiva offers a contrasting but complementary experience. It represents the quieter side of devotion—where the heart speaks, and silence becomes a prayer.
Whether you're a devout follower of Shiva, a spiritual seeker, or simply a traveler with an appreciation for sacred spaces, I wholeheartedly recommend a visit to Omkareshwar Temple. It’s a place where divinity is not just worshipped, but truly felt.

Read moreIn the Very beginning of the review i can state you one and only positive of this hotel is, its Location, and nothing else. Everything except location is bad for this this hotel.(Original phone no and rate chart of the rooms photo attached)
Let me tell you why, the rooms are very small and the bathrooms of the rooms looks very very dirty and you don't want to go to the bathroom even if you feel pressure. Insects, spiders are all over rhe room and beside your bed, they dont provide mosquito net so at night there are risks with this insects or spiders. I think rooms of this hotel is old and they don't even care to maintain. Now talking about the fare, the lowest fare they have is 1500+GST (12%) for NON-AC backside double bed room, in this room they don't provide any thing extra, tv don't work, fan stopped working, intercom telephone dont work, they dont provide any hanger for hanging your clothes, i mean for location you are charging bomb atleast provide some basic facilities, they are just looting and fooling people in the name of hotel business. The room service boys are not good behaved at all i feel they will even threaten you if you don't pay them hefty tips, i didn't wanted to get into fights so avoided any discussion with them about tips and gave them whatever they like. I will never visit this place with family and i personally feel women alone should not stay at this hotel. They also don't have any car/bus system to pick/drop you from station. I think for budget you can look for puri hotel and for high and luxury range you will find other institutions as well. I am attaching the photos of the rate of the hotel and phone as well if you want you can check out. I think its enough for you to decide whether you want to go to this hotel as well i tried to clear all the doubts which possibly you can have. Thank you for reading this. Soon i will post another review, till then stay safe and...
