The Haveli Todar Mal is situated within the premises of Gurudwara Fatehgarh Sahib. It was built in the 17th century and is also popularly known as Jahaz Mahal or Jahaz Haveli. The haveli is located in Harnam Nagar, on the eastern side of the Sirhind-Ropar Railway Line. The present-day Sirhind has the remains of the Haveli of Devan Todar Mal, which is believed to have been one beautiful building during its hay day. The lavish structure has been taken over by SGPC (Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee) and is being restored with the help of the Punjab Government and INTACH (Indian National Trust for Art and Culture Heritage).

Todar Mal was a local businessman and an ardent follower of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. He went on to become the Diwan in the court of the ruler of Sirhind during the Mughal reign, Nawab Wazir Khan. He is lauded to this day for defying the Mughals and buying the land for the cremation of Guru Ji’s young, martyred sons and his mother. The Haveli of Todar Mal structure is built entirely out of Sirhindi bricks. The entire premise of the haveli is decorated with several fountains and pools. Every single structure sticks true to the architectural brilliance of this palace. There is also a huge reception area designed to receive guests and meet...

Haveli Todar Mal is also known as Jahaz Haveli or Jahaz Mahal is the 17th century residence. Modern historians have tried to identify Seth Todar Mall as a son or later descendant of Raja Todar Mall, of Sirhind, who won renown as an administrator under the Mughal emperors, Shah Jahan and Aurangzeb, and who, according to Shah Nawaz Khan, Ma'asir ulUmara, lived up to 1076 AH/AD 1666. To perpetuate the memory of the noble-minded Seth, a road in Sirhind town and a hall in Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib have now been named after him. The Haveli Todar Mal also known as Jahaz Haveli is situated on the eastern side of Sirhind-Ropar Railway Line just 1 kilometre away from Fatehgarh Sahib. These are the remains of the Haveli of Devan Todar Mal, and a fine building it must have been in its hay day. Todar Mal was a true Sikh of Guru Gobind Singh. In the dark days when Guru Sahib made his way through the jungles of Machhiwara, and his younger sons were put on trial by Zikharia Khan many Sikhs betrayed the Guru.

Diwan Todar Mall was a wealthy Hindu merchant of Sirhind, who on the 13 December 1705 performed the cremation of the three martyred bodies of the two younger sons of Guru Gobind Singh, Zorawar Singh aged about 6, Fateh Singh aged about 9 and their...

Diwan Todar Mal in his life time paid the greatest tribute to Sikh community by purchasing piece of land at the substantial cost for the cremation of two younger Sahibzada's Baba Zorawar Singh, Baba Fateh Singh and Mata Gujri ji (Younger sons & Mother o 10th Guru of Sikhs Guru Gobind Singh). He had to cover the whole piece of land with gold coins in a vertical position. Later He had to bear the brunt Wazir Khan (The Nawab of Sirhind) wrath In Result He and his family had to abandon the haveli soon after and themselves faded into oblivion with dilapidated building being their only reminde. The haveli was left untouched out of respect for Diwan Todar Mal. The Haveli also known as Jahaz Haveli is situated on the Eastren side of Sirhind-Ropar Railway Line just 1 KM away from Fatehgarh Sahib. These are the remains of the Haveli of Devan Todar Mal and a fine building it must have been in its hay day. It is made of Sirhindi bricks. Even today Diwan Todar Mal is deeply respected by the Sikhs and a Gate in City & Diwan Todar Mal Jain Memorial Hall has been constructed at historic Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib. A Road be renamed after...

Today, he is most remembered for defying the Mughals by arranging for the cremation of young martyred sons of Guru Gobind Singh and his mother. The haveli is situated in Harnam Nagar, on the Eastern side of Sirhind-Rupnagar Railway Line just 1 km away from Fatehgarh Sahib, and is now being taken over and restored by SGPC with the help of Punjab govt and INTACH.[1][2][3][4] Todar Mal descendants moved from Sirhind to Ludhaina. The present descendants known as Mandals are from sub caste of Sood and are Kshatriyas. Both Todar Mal's in history are from the same family. The mandal family records are available in Haridwar since the 16th century. Todar Mal was from Punjab.

I am giving this place five stars, not because it is a beautiful place, or that one would like to visit it again and again. I have given five stars for its historical value in Sikh history. You should all know its value, not on monetary grounds, but on sentimental ground. Diwan Todarmal ji was a man with golden heart. He didn't think twice to honour the bodies of Mata Gujri ji and two Sahibzade. He gave away his haveli and whatever he had to pay last homeage to them. He wanted to honour them in their death. But, look what we have given him back. Not even recognition. I was shocked to see the state in which his haweli is. All neglected and dishonored. No one is there to look after and maintain it. Brick by brick it is turning to ruins. I would like to request all the Sikh Community to join hands and do something to revive this place, so that at least we can honour the Haweli of Diwan Todarmal ji.

In Sikh history, he is remembered for buying a small piece of land for the cremation of the dead bodies of Mata Gujri, the mother and Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh, the two younger sons of 10th Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh in 1704 A.D, by paying an exorbitant price to the owner of the land. He had to cover the whole piece of land with gold coins (ashrafis) in a vertical position, as he was asked to vertically place gold coins on the land and only that much land was given to him which he could cover with gold coins. He later also made arrangements for their cremation. But now days this place looks like abandoned land. The management must look forward against this and build Gurudwara sahib in the remembrance of Todarmal ji
