Manauli is a small village in Mohali near Chandigarh in Punjab. There are so many visiting spots near Chandigarh is also one of them.Manauli Fort is widely known by its other name Qila Manauli. The fort was owned by the descendants of Sardar Kapoor Singh of the Singhpuria Misl but is now controlled by the Government of Punjab. Some of the people have view that it was constructed by the Mughals. Some of them state the fort dates back to the 18th century. The architecture of the fort has been described as being a blend of Sikh and Mughal-styles. There are ruins of a maajid on the opposite side of the main gateway in the west of the fort. The fort is surrounded by grasslands and the surrounding settlement. The local sikha of this area say that there was a battle between Banda Singh Bahudar and Mughal Army. The Sikhs were victorious in that battle. So it was the first sikh rule and the fort was seized bt the sikhs.the Sikh soldiers who participated in the conflict were awarded. In 2009, the fortress came under the control of the Directorate of Cultural Affairs Archaeology and Archives Museum...

MANAULI, 11 km from Chandigarh, is a tiny hamlet in Punjab. In the middle of the village stands an old fortress, now a crumbling souvenir of antiquity. This monument is witness to a number of political upheavals that took place in this sleepy little village in the past.

At the four corners of the fort stand four rounded towers about 30-35 feet high with pointed barriers at the top. The walls have several strategically placed holes that were used for placing guns to attack the enemy from inside. The fort, with its main gateway on the western side, had three storeys and separate enclosures for women.

On the western side, opposite the main gateway, you have the remains of a mosque. The fort, made up of bricks and mortar, once stood majestically atop an elevated area, about 20 feet higher than the village area. Anybody approaching the fort could be easily spotted and arrangements could be made...

Manauli Fort is located in the Manauli village of Mohali district, Punjab, India. This fort Is situated in Mohali and almost 15 kms from Chandigarh. This fort is in very pathetic condition. When I visited, I came to know that this fort is a disputed property and so it is not maintained. As per history, Sikh warrior Banda Singh Bahadur clinched this fort after triumphing over Mughal oppression. He later handed over the fort to one of his trusted warriors, Sardar Kapoor Singh. Photos shows the awesome architecture work and how people use these kind of qilas for their rest, surviving from others and how they attack enemies very easily. At least one should go and...

The Manauli fort is 4 kms from airport road in the town of Manauli. From what I got to know, it was made by the Mughals, later taken over by Nawab Kapur Singh. It is built with Sirhindi Bricks. It is an important place in terms of history. However when I visited there, it felt no less than abandoned ruins. Tall wild grass was growing there, and the structure seems to be collapsing with every moment due to natural forces. Even though it looked beautiful, it saddens me that some slow court case is delaying the conversation of our heritage. The passage of justice must be fast tracked to protect our monuments! Undisturbed by humans, it has become bird watching hot-spot.

Manauli fort located in Manauli Village is situated near to the Airport Road, Mohali. The Fort in itself is in dilapidated condition, filled with overgrown vegetation and in abject neglect. Punjab Govt, Archaeological department seem to have other things to pay attention to. If you want to visit this fort, you need to carry your essentials with you as no tourist facilities are here. The Fort structure looks sturdy however, seems unsafe. Given its condition can be visited only as a matter of interest or by some photoshoot enthusiasts. The govt should take care of it and develop it.
