Manauli is a small village in Mohali near Chandigarh in Punjab.There are so many visiting spots near Chandigarh is also one of them.Manauli Fort is widely known by its other name Qila Manauli. The fort was owned by the descendants of Sardar Kapoor Singh of the Singhpuria Misl but is now controlled by the Government of Punjab. Some of the people have view that it was constructed by the Mughals. Some of them state the fort dates back to the 18th century.The architecture of the fort has been described as being a blend of Sikh and Mughal-styles. There are ruins of a maajid on the opposite side of the main gateway in the west of the fort.The fort is surrounded by grasslands and the surrounding settlement. At the four corners of the fort stand four rounded towers about 30-35 feet high with pointed barriers at the top. The walls have several strategically placed holes that were used for placing guns to attack the enemy from inside. The fort, with its main gateway on the western side, had three storeys and separate enclosures for women.
