Harappan civilisation is well illustrated here . It’s a really quite museum , people rarely visit it. Tickets of 5 rs each. Here you will find a lots and lots of pottery material, tools ( copper , iron, Bronx and stone ) , arrow heads , pots , medals (stone and silver ) , silver spoons used in rituals , teapots , urns to keep coins , coin collections that extend to a time scale of centuries , arrow heads , terracotta figures . If one has even a slight interest in pre Vedic history , then she / he would have a wonderful time here . Cutting 1 star just because there must be better museums out in the world than this one . Although a must visit for any one coming to Ropar (rupnagar) .

If you're into museums and the history of civilization, this humble place should definitely be on your to-visit list when in or around Ropar. The museum charges a nominal entry fee of INR 5 per person, and tickets can be booked online at the premises within 2–3 minutes. The receptionist is helpful and will guide you through the booking procedure. The museum houses coins, pottery, clay toys, metal artifacts, and other items from various periods, including Harappan civilization sites across India. It also features a depiction of a Harappan funeral. The museum is single-floored, with parking available. Timings are 9 am to 5 pm, with Fridays as the weekly off.

The Archaeological Museum in Ropar showcases the artifacts from the bygone era. The museum is the testimony of the history of the area. It houses many items excavated from a nearby mound. Items excavated date way from the Harappan Civilization. Shells, Bangles, clay toys, earthen vessels are showcased here. The display here is impressive and is a must visit. Entry ticket is nominal at Rs 5/person and the museum is usually not crowded. Parking space is small. You can also visit the mound which is just 5min walk away.

Was very impressed with exhibits - well displayed. Friendly staff.

However VERY disappointed that Archaeological Society of India rules do not allow photography of museum displays and artefacts!!!! Not a single article can be photographed!!!

These are the times of social media, Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram and I believe the museum needs to do a better job of presenting itself - specially to get the attention of youngsters else study of history in India will remain limited to memorising dynasties and dates of major battles.

The excavation site / hill is right behind the museum and is recommended for a visit though there is not much to indicate for the historic excavation work that happened there (not even signage) - the last time any active excavation happened there was in 1955 (if I remember the information from the museum...

I went to Ropar Museum with my friend.overall the Museum is good, but the Museum staff are very annoying, reminds you of time after every 15 minutes, and warning irrelevantly of not breaking glass, or anything,or taking photos, etc there is no facility of buying tickets offline, Most of the Museum staff are from U.P and Bihar ,and they create nuisance by watching reels inside Museum, or talking loudly. But the museum is good ,one must visit there to know about Various Ages in history,In Museum they separately kept excavated things from period 1-6 in chronological order, and excavated things from Bara and kotla, Overall the Museum is good ,but my only complaint is with Museum's...
