Takhat-i-Akbari has a very prominent place in Indian history as the crowning ceremony of the Great Mughal Emperor Akbar took place here in 1556.
Is located in the city of Kalanaur in Gurdaspur district of Punjab. The site is surrounded by agricultural land and is accessible via village roadways. It is about a kilometre or so away from the main street. When I visited in the evening, I was the only person there and was able to walk around freely and take pictures at my leisure. The site has had some preservation, however, I would say overall much more can be done to restore this site considering it’s prominent place in the history of the subcontinent. There is no admissions ticket which is required and parking is available. There are also restrooms for public use.
This site is definitely a worthwhile place to visit if you are interested in Islamic history in India or Indian...
