Ana Sagar Lake is an artificial lake situated in middle of Ajmer city. It is quite a big lake and spread over around 13 km. The lake is surrounded by parks, shops and historic landmarks, that makes it an ideal place for a peaceful walk and spending some quality time. It's a massive lake with well developed water front. The lake has many species of birds and provides a good relaxing place to spend a few minutes at. Kudos to municipal authorities of Ajmer for continued improvement in surroundings of Ana Sagar lake, specially towards Western side. Lot of migratory birds flock the lake from mid November to end of February. Right in the centre of ajmer on the banks of lake anasagar they have created a choupaty kind of garden and walk to admire the like and the city scene. There is also an island garden in the middle of the lake accessible by boats. Nice experience visiting this place.. you can just sit and relax for many hours here.. there are boating options available, best one is the speed boat if you need some thrilling experience ride will be small but it’s worth doing it.. Lake was looks very attractive. We have visited in morning time. There was local transport easily available at any time. Very less travelers and visitor in morning.
The Anasagar Lake is an artificial lake just to the north of the Ajmer city centre that was created in the 12th century by Arnoraj Chauhan from which the lake gets its name. The Anasagar Baradari pavilions and Daulat Bagh Gardens are just to the south of the lake then area is a peaceful and serene place for a bit of R & R. The only shame is the litter about the place. The lake is spread over 13 Kilometers. The Baradari or pavilions were built by Shahjahan in 1637 and Daulat Bagh Gardens by Jehangir. There is a Circuit house on a hill near the lake that used to be British Residency. There is an island in the center of the lake which is accessible by boat. Boats could be hired from the east side of the Daulat Bagh. There are Chowpatty and Jetty walkway next to each other and Baradari to capture the scenic of the lake. Daulat Bagh Gardens were built by the 4th Mughal Emperor Mirza Nur-ud-din Beig Mohammad Khan Salim (better known by his imperial name Jahangir) and later the pavilions were built by 5th Mughal emperor Mirza Shahab-ud-din Baig Muhammad Khan Khurram (better known by Shah Jahan).
On those days, the water of this lake could not be used by anyone except the priests and upper caste Hindus. One day, one of his disciples went there to perform Wadu, but the priests put him out. When he told the whole incident to his murshid Hazrat Khwājā Moinuddin Chishti (RAH), he asked him to bring one more lotah of water for him. When his disciples came with a lotah of water, the entire lake was dry. The then King Prithviraj Chauhan heard the incident, he realized that this has happened due to not allowing the Muslim Faqir to use this lake. Immediately, the king instructed his priests to go to the Faqir to ask for forgiveness. After accepting their apologies, Khwājā Sahib asked his disciple Mohammad Sadi to pour back the water into the lake. After pouring water into the lake, it became just like before.
