Desert National Park displays the best of the Thar desert’s ecosystem and its varied wildlife. The Park is formed of undulating sand dunes, jagged rocks, dense salt lake bottoms and inter-medial areas. Various species of animals such as black buck, chinkara and desert fox inhabit the Park. The highly endangered Great Indian Bustard, one of the world's heaviest flying birds, can also be seen here. In winter, the park hosts an incredible variety of migratory raptors such Himalayan and Eurasian Griffon Vultures, Eastern Imperial Eagle, and the Saker Falcon. Credits:Rajasthan govt. It is spread over an area of approximately 3,000 square kilometers. A number of exotic animal and bird species in a vast variety including chinkara, black buck, sand grouse, desert fox and cat, desert gerbil, fringe-toed agama eagles and blue bull. The ideal time to visit Desert National Park, Jaisalmer is from October to the month of March when the weather is most pleasant for sightseeing in Jaisalmer. Gadsisar Lake in the Desert National Park is the only lake where you will be able to find migratory birds. You will be able to view most of the migratory birds during the month of November to January, including the endangered Great Indian Bustard bird species. To enter the Desert National Park, one can choose the Jeep Safari services provided by the government and private tourism companies. With the help of Safari, you will be able to discover and take pictures of the rare bird species present in the National Park. It will also help you cover most of the area of the Desert National Park within minutes or hours (depending upon the time spent by the tourist inside the park). Various types of eagles, vultures, falcons and more can be spotted...

Desert National Park starts from different areas like Khuri , Sam area of Jaisalmer as well as Barmer . It is amid the vast desert sand dunes of Jaisalmer district. Travel 15km to Sudasari village to see rare Great Indian Bustard bird If u r going with a good of seeing greenery or cool breeze it is not a place for u .It has its own climate and ambience . It has a very special reservation for Great Indian Bustard bird. It is the State Bird of Rajasthan . Rare Bird species. Highly Endangered . If you are lucky you will see this bird. It also has other animals like desert lizard - Saanda , desert fox , deer , Hawk etc. This National Park makes it a different experience . The overchanging sand dunes with rich culture of Rajasthan makes it a worth visit . Explore by yourself . Go for it. It is dry most of the time . Connect yourself to God .
