Surprisingly impressive museum in a small town, with a very good collection of artifacts- statues, paintings, weapons, illustrated books- and finally, parts of the palace itself where the museum is situated. Some of the rooms of the Garh Palace- which houses the museum- are the most unique and striking part of what the museum offers. Jhalawar Government Museum is housed in the Garh Palace, which is literally at the heart of Jhalawar town. The palace is inside Jhalawar Fort, which is surrounded by the commercial area of the old Jhalawar town. The museum has a Buddhist Hall, a Jain Gallery and a Temple Gallery. There are also halls that exhibit weapons, military dresses, innumerable portraits and a few illustrated books that are fascinating to see. The three main galleries contain sculptures of divine figures of the three main religions that shaped early Indian civilization. Finally, the visitor is led to some rooms of the palace which are exhibits themselves, with exquisite glass decorations on walls and ceilings, and impressive wall...

Rajasthan's oldest museum and finest in India, Government Museum of Jhalawar was established in 1915 AD; right outside the Garh Palace. Due to its rare exhibits and unique collectibles, the museum gathers lots of history lovers attention. Amongst the must sees are beautiful paintings, sculptures, and rare manuscripts, that belong to fifth and seventh-century inscriptions. Tourists must watch out for sculptures that were retrieved from the city of Chandravati and statues and epigraphs from the Jhalrapatan region. Some exhibits like Ardhnarishvara Natraj have been displayed on an international level as well. Government Museum of Jhalawar is a stone throw away from the Garh Palace; all that tourists need to do is walk for three minutes from the main...

The place is good but the caretakers show too much of restrictions like every other person come to hirt the monuments & very narrow minded by disallowing to take photos of monuments as if some other will copy their heritage......even in Indain museum, odisha state museum, Mehrangarh fort photography are allowed & in turn this small palace museum showing such restrictions that in future no one would like to go to come here , so friends no photography here even if there is no sign board of no photography. Govt should not make peoples fool by declaring such place as museum istead using it as police station. One can even see police using the very first room inside this as there bedrooms. They should arrange for bedrooms outside this.
