Surprisingly impressive museum in a small town, with a very good collection of artifacts- statues, paintings, weapons, illustrated books- and finally, parts of the palace itself where the museum is situated. Some of the rooms of the Garh Palace- which houses the museum- are the most unique and striking part of what the museum offers. Jhalawar Government Museum is housed in the Garh Palace, which is literally at the heart of Jhalawar town. The palace is inside Jhalawar Fort, which is surrounded by the commercial area of the old Jhalawar town. The museum has a Buddhist Hall, a Jain Gallery and a Temple Gallery. There are also halls that exhibit weapons, military dresses, innumerable portraits and a few illustrated books that are fascinating to see. The three main galleries contain sculptures of divine figures of the three main religions that shaped early Indian civilization.
