I decided to book with this company because they claim to be owned and operated by the Bishnoi themselves, and I generally encourage travelers to book with local and indigenous operators when choosing tours like this. Unfortunately, if you are looking for an informative experience, I have to recommend booking elsewhere. For context, I have taken similar tours around the world, including in Vietnam, Costa Rica, Cuba, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand, to name just a few.
Before the tour, I spent about ten minutes reading about Bishnoi culture and history to give myself some background knowledge. I learned far more from that short reading session than I did during the entire tour. The guide briefly mentioned the origin of the name “Bishnoi” and the related massacre, but provided no context. Strangely, he referred to it as the Chipko movement, something that, while perhaps inspired by the massacre, happened hundreds of years later and was a completely different event.
I received no information about the leader who created the 29 rules or about the Bishnoi connection to native wildlife, something I had understood from my reading to be central to their culture. The company’s website says the tour includes a visit to a traditional village, but that did not happen. Instead, we made a few brief 5 to 10 minute stops at some local pottery, weaving, and cloth-stamping workshop run by locals. This was actually the highlight of the tour, as it was at least informative and allowed time to see traditonal methods.
During the safari portion, we sllaw a herd of deer, but again, no meaningful information was shared about their importance, habits, or notable facts, just two or three scattered tidbits. At one point we were close to a single male deer, but it was on the driver’s side of the vehicle while I was in the passenger seat. Instead of positioning the car for me to see, the driver began taking photos and videos from his own side. His body blocked my view entirely, and before I had a chance to take any pictures, the deer walked away. I suspect the guide sees these animals all the time, but for me this was likely a once-in-a-lifetime encounter, and it was frustrating to have it taken over for his personal photos.
In total, the tour lasted just under two hours and cost 1,500 INR. While I understand that I was not part of a larger group and it was just me in the vehicle, had I known the experience would be like this, I would have booked elsewhere.
edit: no I was not 2 hours late. I had booked for 8 PM and arrived at 8:45 due to car issues. 2nd there was no confusion on my part I was already previously aware of these 2 incidents and their timings. My confusion was the drivers...

This trip is all about Bishnoi people who are famous for their deep rooted love for nature and wild life. The people who started the Chipko movement who refused to move even when they were chopped alive along with the trees. They worship animals and trees.
Along the way we had deep conversation with our guide Mahendra ji, which left us in awe and somewhere changed the way we think.
It covered the local bishnoi village life , the handicrafts and their making, along with meeting some beautiful people who smile with their eyes and seem to be fully contended with life . Our guide Mahendra ji was very informative, took us to places where we could see wildlife in abundance like many black bucks, chinkaras, neel gayi, migratory birds etc. The trip ended with a scrumptious meal . A simple but most delicious rajasthani meal in a small village hut. Mahendra ji was polite, gave us time to experience things at our own pace and was also very informative. Had a wonderful experience in all.
The best was it the price . A very reasonable price compared to the...
