राजस्थान के सीकर जिले में जीण माता का मंदिर स्थित है उस मंदिर के पास से ऊपर लगभग 1000 सीढ़ियां जाती है जो आपको इस काजल शिखर मंदिर तक पहुंचाती हैं।

एक पहाड़ी की सबसे ऊंची चोटी पर यह काजल शिखर मंदिर बना है इसे काजल शिखर क्यों कहते हैं इसके पीछे एक ऐतिहासिक कहानी है

कहते हैं कि जब औरंगजेब ने भारतीय हिंदू मंदिरों को तोड़ने का आदेश जारी किया तब उनके सैनिक जीण माता मंदिर को तोड़ने के लिए पहुंचे लेकिन उन पर भंवरों और बड़ी मधुमक्खियों ने आक्रमण कर दिया इससे औरंगजेब की सेना की हालत खराब हो गई और यह मंदिर सुरक्षित रहा।

इसके बाद औरंगजेब की सेना जहां कहीं भी युद्ध के लिए जाती उस पर भंवरों और मधुमक्खियां हमला कर देते इससे औरंगजेब युद्ध हार रहा था।

औरंगजेब ने कुछ लोगों से पूछा कि इसका क्या कारण है तब उन्होंने बताया कि हमें लगता है कि आप पर जीण माता क्रोधित हैं अतः उन्हें मनाने के लिए आप जीण माता मंदिर में अखंड ज्योत जलाएं।

कहते हैं तब से मुगल दरबार के द्वारा काजल शिखर मंदिर में अखंड ज्योत जल रही है 1947 तक मुगल दरबार से यह तेल आता था और उसके बाद अब भारत सरकार और मंदिर की जो कमेटी है उसके द्वारा इस तेल का प्रबंध किया जाता है ।
