कुंजल माता मंदिर को गांव के कुलदेवी मंदिर के नाम से जाना जाता है जिसे देह भी कहा जाता है और इसे पहले चंपावत के नाम से भी जाना जाता था। माना जाता है कि देवी माता के अस्तित्व वर्ष 1098 ईस्वी में सामने आये थे। इस मंदिर के बारे में कई कहानियाँ है | स्थानीय लोगों के अनुसार यह कहा जाता है कि पहले मंदिर पत्थर से बना एक चबूतरा था जिसे बाद में इस इलाके के स्थानीय लोगो द्वारा बनाया गया था।

कहा जाता है कि माँ देवी का पता एक घटना बाद दिखाई देता है शादि करते समय उनके घर दो पुरूष शादी के लिए बारात लेकर आए थे, जिस बात से वह शर्मिंदा थीं और उन्होने अपने परिवार को अपमान से बचाने के लिए वह धरती में समा गयी। उनके भाई ने उसे बचाने की कोशिश की परन्तु वह उन्हें बचा न सके और उसके हाथ में सिर्फ उनका दुपट्टा ही हाथ में आया और वह धरती के अंदर समा गयी और कभी वापस नहीं आई । वह दोनों परिवारों के बीच होने वाली लड़ाई को रोकना चाहती थी जिस कारण उनहोनें ऐसा किया तब से लेकर आज तक वह कुंजल माता के रूप में पूजी जाती है। यह मंदिर को पवित्र माना जाता है और परिखो, जोशी, लापस्यास, बुधानियो और अन्य कई अन्य जातियों द्वारा कुलदेवी के रूप में इनकी पूजा की जाती है। मंदिर में नवरात्रि के दौरान भव्य कार्यक्रमों का आयोजन करता है और दशहरे पर लोगों द्वारा डांडिया का भी आयोजन...
