I traveled to Mount Abu due to numerous World Class attractions and Mount Abu Wildlife Sanctuary was among them. It was January 2019 best time to visit.
Mount Abu Wildlife is located at an altitude of about 300 meters to 1700 meters above sea level in the highlands of the Aravalli ranges. This forest is spread over an area of 114 sq kms up to Gurshikhar, the highest peak of Aravalli Hill Range. It is open to tourists throughout the year. Tours can be done from 9 am to 5 pm. An entry fee of Rs 100 is charged from Indian tourists and Rs 300 from foreign tourists. Vehicle charges are additional. Jeep safaris and trekking can also be enjoyed.
In this wildlife sanctuary, many species of flora found which grows in the temperate and sub-tropics climate are prominent. Many species of wild roses can also be seen. Bamboos forest is also noticeable in some areas.
Sloth bears are prominent in mammalian wildlife because this environment is suitable for them and for Indian Pangolin also. Indian leopard, Deers, Golden Jackals, Jungle Cats, Wild boars etc are living in this Sanctuary. Lion Tigers are not existing in this Sanctuary. Many species of birds including the grey jungle fowl and Green Avadavat are very common.

It was declared a wildlife sanctuary in last two decades. Mount Abu Wildlife Sanctuary spreads out into a plateau which is about 19 km long and 6 km wide. In altitude, it ranges from 300 to 1,722 m (984 to 5,650 ft) at Guru Shikhar, the highest peak in Rajasthan. The rocks are igneous and due to the weathering effect of wind and water, large cavities are common in them.
It is very rich in floral bio-diversity starting from xenomorphic sub-tropical thorn forests in the foot hills to sub-tropical evergreen forests along PRIYEN water courses and valleys at higher altitudes. There are about 112 plant families with 449 genera and 820 species. Of these, 663 species are dicots while 157 species are monocots. About 81 species of trees, 89 species of shrubs, 28 species of climbers and 17 species of tuberous plants of medicinal importance have been identified in this sanctuary.
