Savitri Mata Mandir - Pushkar is home to numerous temples, but the most popular and revered one is the Savitri Mata Temple. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Savitri, who is considered to be an incarnation of Goddess Saraswati, the Hindu goddess of knowledge, music, and art.

The Savitri Mata Temple is situated on the top of a hill and offers a panoramic view of the entire town of Pushkar. The temple is reached by a steep climb of around 1,100 steps or by taking a ropeway ride that takes you straight to the top. The temple complex is well-maintained and has several smaller shrines dedicated to different Hindu deities.

The history of the Savitri Mata Temple is shrouded in mystery, and there are several myths associated with the temple. According to one legend, the temple was built by Lord Brahma, the Hindu god of creation, to appease his wife, Goddess Savitri. Another myth suggests that the temple was built by a local king to honor his wife, who was a devotee of Goddess Savitri. The most popular legend associated with the temple is the story of Goddess Savitri and Lord Brahma.

As per the legend, Lord Brahma created a beautiful woman named Gayatri to be his wife. However, he soon realized that she was too beautiful and was attracting the attention of other gods. In a fit of jealousy, Lord Brahma created another woman named Savitri, who was more beautiful than Gayatri. However, Gayatri was also jealous of Savitri, and she cursed her to live as a human. Savitri was reborn on earth and performed severe penance to gain the favor of Lord Brahma. Pleased with her devotion, Lord Brahma granted her a boon, and she asked that she be worshipped as a goddess in Pushkar. Hence, the Savitri Mata Temple was built in her honor.

The temple is a popular destination for devotees, especially women who come here to seek blessings for a happy married life. The temple is particularly crowded during the festival of Karva Chauth, which is celebrated by married women across North India. The festival involves fasting and praying for the long life of their husbands. Women flock to the temple to offer prayers to Goddess Savitri and seek her blessings.

Apart from its religious significance, the Savitri Mata Temple is also a popular tourist attraction. The panoramic view of Pushkar from the top of the hill is breathtaking, and tourists can spend hours admiring the beauty of the town from this vantage point. The temple is also surrounded by lush greenery, which adds to its charm.

Visitors to the temple should dress appropriately and remove their footwear before entering the temple complex. The temple is open from early morning to late evening and is busiest during the morning and evening aarti. Visitors should be prepared for a steep climb if they choose to climb the steps to the temple. However, the view from the top is well worth the effort.

In conclusion, the Savitri Mata Temple is a must-visit destination for anyone visiting Pushkar. The temple's significance in Hindu mythology, coupled with its breathtaking location, makes it a popular pilgrimage center and tourist attraction. A visit to the temple is a memorable experience that leaves visitors with a sense of peace and...

Shree Savitri Mata Mandir, perched atop the scenic Ratnagiri Hill in Pushkar, Rajasthan, is a captivating blend of spiritual reverence, mythological depth, and natural beauty. Dedicated to Goddess Savitri, the first consort of Lord Brahma, this temple is not only a sacred pilgrimage site but also a place that offers breathtaking views and a deeply enriching experience for every visitor.

The journey to the temple itself is part of its charm. Devotees can either climb the 970 steps that wind up the hill or take the ropeway, which offers a panoramic view of the sacred Pushkar Lake and the surrounding Aravalli hills. As you ascend, the air grows quieter, the landscape more majestic, and the anticipation of reaching the shrine builds with every step. The climb is symbolic—a physical and spiritual ascent toward divine grace.

At the summit, the temple stands in serene simplicity, radiating a quiet power. The sanctum houses three idols: Goddess Savitri in the center, flanked by Goddess Sharda and Goddess Saraswati. This triad of divine feminine energy creates a unique spiritual atmosphere, celebrating wisdom, learning, and devotion. The rituals are performed with heartfelt sincerity, and the priests are welcoming, often sharing the legends and significance of the temple with curious visitors.

One of the most magical experiences at Shree Savitri Mata Mandir is witnessing the sunset from the hilltop. As the sun dips below the horizon, casting golden hues over Pushkar town and the lake below, the entire setting transforms into a canvas of divine tranquility. It’s a moment that stays etched in memory—a perfect blend of nature’s beauty and spiritual serenity.

The temple is especially vibrant during festivals and auspicious days, when devotees gather in large numbers to offer prayers and participate in traditional ceremonies. Savitri Mata Mandir in Pushkar is a scenic and picturesque temple located around 15 minutes away from the Brahma Temple. The journey to the temple is enjoyable, with breathtaking views along the way. However, visitors should be aware that the temple is frequented by a large number of monkeys, so staying alert and cautious is essential.

One thing to note is that the temple remains closed from 12 to 2 in the afternoon. Unfortunately, some cable car operators might not be entirely honest about this closure, misleading visitors into thinking the temple is open. We encountered this issue during our visit and had to wait for the temple to reopen.

Once inside, the view from the temple is truly captivating. The serene surroundings and the panoramic landscape make the trip worthwhile. The temple itself holds historical and religious significance, adding depth to the experience for those interested in the culture and traditions of the region.

To reach the temple, a cable car ride is available, and the ticket price is approximately 150 per person. Although the cable car ride provides an added thrill and a different perspective of the area, visitors can also opt for a trek to the top if they prefer a more adventurous approach.

Overall, Savitri Mata Mandir offers a memorable experience with its breathtaking vistas and spiritual ambiance. The temple's closure during midday hours should be considered while planning the visit. Additionally, being mindful of the monkeys is crucial to ensure a safe and enjoyable time at the temple. Despite the minor inconvenience we faced with the temple's closure, the beauty of the surroundings and the cultural significance of the place make it a worthwhile destination for travelers seeking a unique and spiritual...

The temple is very beautiful and spiritual. It's situated on the top of the hill. There are two ways you can reach. The first one is the stairs and the second one is Ropeway. So now let me tell you how people choose to go there...if they choose stairs so either they had asked the mata savitri to grant their wish and then they go by stairs or some of the tourists go for "Bundi" the holy one I was a foreigner couple they were doing it and they told someone about it I just over heard it and got to know about Bundi also. It almost takes you 2 hours to reach the temple. And If you are choosing Ropeway so it only costs 150 INR for one person for both sides it's a great option if You just want to visit the temple and add something new in your travelling experience and memories. It can become adventurous and spiritual at the very same time. When you'll reach the temple you'll see a bulk of monkeys they just stay there and sit and chill. Don't be aftraif when you see them but yeah make sure you take care of your belongings I can't say if they'll snatch one of your things and will run away!! Haha just kidding. They were really nice until you'll tease them. So visit the temple it's really beautiful and gives a breath taking view. It's almost 450kms up from the floor or ground whatever is convenient for one's understanding. But it's just an amazing temple. You can sit there make videos and take photos and have really great time with your family, friends, beloved and solo time also. There is a mini market also where you can have snacks and tea. A free parking lot also available. It's a must visit place if you are visiting Pushkar.
